I'm planning on majoring in Biology and getting a minor in Latin/Classical studies, but i'm starting to rethink my minor. I've heard that people with non-science degrees stand out in their medical school application, so I was just wondering if there was any advantage in pursuing my minor.

Major and minor do not matter. Double majors and/or double minors do not matter. Your GPA is what DOES matter. So pick areas to study that you are excited about and will enjoy, as your grades are more likely to be high if you have enthusiasm about your classwork. If you study something really unusual, it might help you stand out in an adcomm's memory. But you will still be primarily judged by GPA (and MCAT score).

The general consensus on SDN is that majors and minors do not matter. Only your GPA, MCAT score, and ecs matter

Back in middle school (and that was a good 10+ years ago) a doctor came in and said that it is always good to show you are well-rounded. He meant that medical schools like to know you are good at other things (not just biology). This does not have to be shown in your major/minor though, just taking classes in sociology etc can help - but to answer your question I don't think it will help or hurt your chances, like the above people said, GPA/MCAT/EC's count a bit more. I was always taught that an undergraduate degree is really just to prove you can focus for four years and you are capable to learning something - I don't necessarily agree with that, but if your minor is what you want, do it! If not, change it! Just make sure you stay focused and get a good GPA/MCAT 🙂 Hope my rambling helped, and if not, oh well!
