Does your school supply students with alginate mixers or do they make you hand mix?

  • Public School - They provide alginate mixer(s)

  • Private School - We manually hand-mix like plebeians

Does your school supply students with alginate mixers or do they make you hand mix?

Just a thought as I sit in the dental lab constantly getting air bubbles dreaming of that mixer................

At my school you can check one out from dispensing and request an assistant to help you mix with the alginator. Of course this is only for important impressions, not for the initial diagnostic impressions that you take for new patients.

At our school someone used it to mix microstone which then hardened inside.

We probably do, but everyone does it manually..
Besides, I’m sure with practice you could probably mix a better consistency with less bubbles by hand in any case.
 
I think my school has it because I see a mixer bottle lying around the table. Yet, I haven't seen anyone actually using it.
