Exactly with regards to the last 2 lines of your post. Same with stealing being a bad example. One can argue that a poor person on the streets esp. in developing nations sometimes are put in a position where stealing is the only way to get food short of begging esp. when we have untrained little kids on the road. So its not that black and white. Rape, that's another issue altogether. there is nothing in the world I can believe that can justify that.

Fine, but you're just playing games now. Ethically, the question comes down to whether or not a prudent person exercising good judgment would engage in a sexual act with a person in authority in order to gain a favor from that individual considering the possible pros and cons for each individual involved as well as the pros and cons for society at large based upon the results of that action. In addition, we could go the morality route if we really wanted, but that's full of "it's relative" arguments from some individuals.
From a Kantian perspective, the OP used an individual for her own (professional) gain and he used her for his own (sexual) gain. The short version would be that since this is essentially using another human being as an object to attain a goal (as opposed to in the context of a relationship contributing to a cooperative goal), this is ethically wrong.
The utilitarian argument is essentially what I wrote above (pros and cons). Either way, it's wrong.
Of course, professional and academic ethics and integrity codes also prohibit such conduct.

A little different from "self-defense" me thinks...

In the terms the person was using it wasn't a legal definition of murder it was killing a person. Does saving yourself (ends) justify the means (killing someone).

What Bill Clinton did with that woman was immoral. He was married, which means that he was blessed by the Lord to lead a certain lifestyle and keep certain responsibilities. He did not do what he did to fulfill some higher purpose, like defend his country or something like that. You can't compare him to me, you just can't.

wait wait. im confused. by hypothetical do you mean potential? Or is this just a general question about a certain topic? Your posts confuse me, especially the one about God leading you to doing something. I dunno, either way I don't think the ends justify the means, especially as a doctor, and ESPECIALLY as a religious person...

he would probably mention what a fast learner she was and how she attached herself to any situation where success was in the near future. also that she was persistant, even in the hardest of situations until the job was finished.

I don't really care about the original situation. Just pointing out my thoughts on why stealing and killing in certain instances are not blck and white.

In the US this is true but in other countries I'm sure they would not consider it necessarily their definition. and also even in this country sometimes people who are doing it in self defense or provoked through years of physical/sexual abuse don't always get to argue self defense but arguably they should be able to considering the torture and stuff they've been put through. otherwise why are several abuse victims always getting manslaughter charges against them.

One of my professors had a student offer to do pretty much anything for an A (before he taught at my school)..he valued his job, reputation, and integrity too much though

I'm confused. Self defense has nothing to do with being provoked; it comes into play when there is an imminent danger to you. And you answered your own question: abuse victims who kill their abusers are often convicted of manslaughter instead of murder, because the courts/juries often take the circumstances into consideration.

Also, the OP is a troll.

OP, the simple answer is that you shouldn't do "bad" things for an A or anything for that matter.

The fact that you even thought about posting this thread shows that you may be having your doubts. This may also mean that you may feel horrible afterward which could affect your health, sense of worth, pride of a future acceptance, whatever.

You shouldn't do it because it is foolish for a person like you who acknowledges the deed would be "bad."

If it were the case for some of the previous poster, then it would be a different situation. :meanie:

Umm... well, technically, no, your "praying" doesn't mean you lost your virginity, but practically speaking it does. According to the article "Am I Still A Virgin?" (a lit review of Seventeen Magazine, attached below), what you did is the closest thing to losing one's virginity without crossing the line, surpassing another act done by others in the population in closeness to losing one's virginity (according to the apparent beliefs of magazine authors and letter writers). Essentially, they hold to a very "conservative" point of view as to what is defined as "it." Medically and psychologically, however, the damage is close to if not the same as sexual intercourse (minus the possibility of pregnancy). There is still the high possibility of transmission of disease as well as psychosocial results. Technically speaking you may still be a virgin but practically speaking....

I agree. It seems to me that you (OP) are rationalizing what you did. Did you hope this thread would turn out differently than it did or are you simply trolling (in which case, I must admit this was a pretty entertaining troll)? The fact is that your behavior was pretty detestable and unethical. I'm sorry if you feel some of us have been unfair or harsh in our judgment of your actions. You asked for people's opinions. Seriously, if i could have banged a bunch of decent looking professors (at least 5 out of 10's) for free A's, I would have done it. I don't need the majority of the knowledge I have obtained in undergrad. In an ideal world I'd learn the pre-req material for the MCAT, then sleep with professors for everything else.👍
