Hey everybody. I'm going to graduate in a year with a language degree from my school which is a top public school. I got a 2.9 and 2.0 in the biology series so far and there is one more class to go. I finished chemistry with a 3.2 average for the series. I'm planning on completing the prerequisites at a smaller branch campus of a different public university because I think I will get to know the professors better there and because I think I'll get better grades there. And the smaller school uses semesters rather than quarters which I think I'll like better.

I have a feeling that I should retake general bio at the smaller school because that 2.0 isn't very good and maybe schools would want me to retake that one class anyway. And because I don't want to get an average grade in the last class of the series. But at the same time it would feel good to finish the series so I can get to the higher level bio prereqs in post-bac. My overall GPA is 3.4 but at the end of the year I could get it up to 3.5 if I just take classes in my major.

Advice? I'm trying my best at the sciences but there are really bright people I'm competing with. I plan on taking a year or two off between graduation and post-bac. Post-bac will take two more years whether I retake general bio or not because of the prereqs my school has. For those who read all this and gave me advice thanks.

Well, could you re-take bio when you take the year off before your post-bac? I guess it depends on what you plan to do with your time then. It's hard to say if you really need to retake it. You have a competitive GPA and a post-bac would help your application. If you can do well in your upper level bio courses, I would say it shows you know the material and are ready for pharmacy school. If you have the time and money, I would retake it because it can only help.

Thanks for responding. What I mean by post-bac is just going back to complete whatever credits I need like ochem, physics, and the higher level bio classes. It won't be an official-program-kind of post-bac. I won't be retaking general chemistry. In the year or two off I'm planning on doing an English teaching program in Europe. My schedule of classes could allow me to finish the remaining bio class before I graduate but not retake that 2.0.

I'm kind of looking forward to going to a different school and don't really want to come back to my current school to retake the class if I need to. That's why I'm wondering if I should just retake the series at the new school. Maybe I will just finish up the bio series here. Thanks, I just need to think about it a little. I have good pharmacy related experience and I know I'd be a happy pharmacist. That was a bad quarter for me because I got sick before the final. It was the lowest grade I've ever gotten so maybe I'm stressing out too much about it.
