When you get invited to a school for an interview, what is the best information to know before hand? History? Honor code? Mission statement? School song? 😕

History? nah
Honor code? nah
Mission statement? probably a good idea
School song? nah

also try to find out a bit about the school's locale, strengths.

The Gold Standard MCAT 5th edition ISBN# 0-7689-1009-9 has a good section about what to obtain as far as history etc. for a interview. I know are local library has it , your's should as well. I very good book for studying for the MCAT's as well

Thanks! You know, that reminds me. My essay book does have an interview section. I was gonna check it out when/if I actually receive an invite, but I might as well get an early start.

Find out who will be interviewing you. The schools will usually tell and find out what one of the people from the committee are doing or have done research on and discuss the specifics of that research and how interesting it is because etc. My girlfriend did this. They ate it up🙂

Just make sure you're able to answer the inevitable "Why us?" question from your interviewers.

You should be able to answer the question, "Why do you want to go here?" Look for the features of the school that appeal to you - from the overall mission to location to specific programs that interest you. Be specific, accurate, and personal.

i tried to learn a bit about the curriculum of the school (mostly pbl vs. lectures, systems-based or discipline-based, etc.), although they'll probably go into that a bit at your interview day but before your actual interview. sdn also has a really good interview feedback site that's linked to on the sdn homepage. take a look at the typical questions asked to interviewees, as well as people's thoughts about the school. and make sure to add your own feedback once you've interviewed! 🙂
