Just finished my DAT today

2006 score 2008 score
PAT 22 26
QR 18 20
RC 17 17
Bio 19 21
GC 21 19
Ochem 27 20
TS 21 20
AA 20 19

I was expecting a much better improvement since i spend mroe time to study this time. However, the score shows otherwise.

My main sourse of matieral were kaplan BB , and Destroyer. I think bio were much easier than first time that i take the DAT. I dont know what happen with Chemistry. i did much better last year. and that's the section i feel most confident in. When my score pop up I litterally said " F... me!!"

anyway..if anyone have any question, i'm glad to answer any if i can.

Does anyone knwo other than UOP , any other dental school want a high PAT? Also is it even worth it to resent my score to school with my new score. I already sent the old one to school already.

what were the Gchem and Ochem questions like? where they more conceptual or more calculations?
nice job the PAT!!👍

it's more half and half, I think the conceptual questions got me big time. the Destroyer prepare me pretty well for the calculation quesions.

did you do topscore, are they similar to the actual DAT question? where the calculation very tricky or straight forward ? By Conceptual what do you mean like electronegativty , bonding, solubility can you explain. How was the orgo , was there a lot of reaction.. , how were your practice score if you don't mind 😱

Your first time scores were just fine.. why did you retake? and why is that two-year gap? awesome pat score. I think you should be just fine, but be ready to explain in interviews why you got lower score in orgo this time. overall nice job. Congratulations 🙂

Most of the calculations were very simple. I can't tell u exatcly what's on the exam cuz i dont hink ti's fair. but definatly know your acid and base , atomic radious , electro negativity. and those. PV= nRt . there aren't that many conceptual topic to cover . For organic, there were very few Rxn type of questions. there were a few lab questions, and 1 NMR quesions.

I think it's somewhat similar to topscore. I did use topscore but i never did the whole exam. I study section by section and try to understand the concept of each question instead of focussing on my score. I sscore around 25 AA usauuly a few day before exam because I already went through each questions so many time that i remember the answers.

Well, i didn't get any interview for the last two cycle. I figured i should try to retake to get a better score to increase my chance. My scores were fine but i only have 3.0 GPA. I majored in Mathematic before and did poorly , so my overall GPA is affected by that.

I understand but still thank you , good luck getting in to where you want to go ,

I think both of your scores are pretty solid, Have you think about doing a one year Masters????

Yes I thogh about that and Applied to a master program in Biochemistry. I have another two quarters to finsih the program. I was already one year into the master program when i repllied last cycle.

Do u guys think i should resend my DAT score? my old score is a bit better . They wont knwo if i dont send my new score right? I already summited my old scores in June since i did not knwo if i were gonna retake or not. I did nto tell the school that i am retakign neither becauee I dont' want them to hold my applicaion.

great scores, amazing PAT!!! your old scores seem a bit better though. I'm sorry you didn't get what you wanted 🙁 you should get some interviews!

I agree old scores are better. Thats what happens when you get too greedy. DAT cannot always make up for GPA.

I guess i wont sent my new DAT score in then. Yes i was a math major. I didn't really study much during my undergraduate and my GPA shows. Math is nto hard, it's just the timming is the problem. I spend 90% of my time studying for chemistry adn biology.

You should check to see if any of the schools you applied to will take the highest of each section (from both exams)...I am not entirely sure about this but I remember reading a post about it...I think one of doc toothace's

First of all congrats on having a consistent score, you pretty much improved on all sectons except for ochem n gen chem which really werent that bad overall.

When you took the DATs both times, were theyre any funky rxns like Mixed Aldo, Clemmenson rxn, Hoffman Rearrangement, etc? And on the RC, did you use the search n destroy method or just read the passage n tried asnwering em in a timely fashion? thx!!

~ Wow Awesome PAT! Did you apply before you started the program? So you were in the process of still completing your 1 year. Or Did you finish one year than apply? If you did the latter didn't they see your 1 year MS BIOCHEM GPA? Didn't that help?~

I was already 1 year into the master program. there is a separate secion for the master GPA but they still add that into the overall GPA when calculating yoru overal.

There wren't much reactino on Ochem nor any funky reaction. I used search and destroy method but then there were too many tone question and I got pannic and went back to read the articles again. and ofcourse i ran out of time
