Hi All SDNers, I took my DAT for the second time today and lets just say I am sooooo glad its over and done with. This website helped me a lot to prepare for my DAT so I wanted to give you my thoughts
Second Time around First Time Around
AA-20 AA-19
TS-22 TS-18
PAT-18 PAT-19

bio-21 Bio-17
gchem-22 Gchem-19
orgo-22 Orgo-20

Reading-16, i know Reading-19
Quant-17, was way tooo tired Quant-21

I did everything to prepare for this test. I bought every material that was out there (Achiever, Topscore, Destroyer, Chem Odessey, Kaplan class, Barron's outline, KSF factor, SDN stalker) Basically if it had DAT on it I bought it.

I didn't get in last year with my 19AA and 18 TS, so I decided to retake the test and apply again this year. My application is already out, and in the meantime, I will be attending a one year master's program at Georgetown University for this year. I've also been working as a dental assistant for the last 5 months.

The first time I took this test I used Kaplan and achiever. The second time I took this test I bought the Destroyer (honestly the biggest reason why my sciences improved so much! This was by far the best investment I had ever made for the DAT) and topscore (didn't help me too much compared to the destroyer but it did help me in a lot in pacing myself)

Ok Breakdown

Bio-I can't stress how much the Destroyer Helped me in this area. This is the score that I needed to improve in the most since I did poorly the first time around (17->21😍). I knew the destroyer in and out! I knew why all the right answers were right and why all the wrong answers were wrong. This tool by far helped me the most. The bio questions in Destroyer were DEAD ON: the exact same as the bio questions I got on the DAT.

GCHEM- I think I only did 2 calculations and they were simple. Again... destroyer was amazing! It had basically all the conceptual gchem stuff you needed to know accompanied with the best explanations.

Orgo- There is a reason why Dr.Romano is the Orgoman. I wish my organic chemistry teacher in college explained orgo the way Dr. Romano did. His roadmaps, explanation for R/S configurations, etc simplifies orgo in a way no other test prep material does, and trust me I know...I bought them all!I was actually a little dissappointed with the 22, I thought I was going to get them all right.

Reading- Raped me. Holly S$!*T did this get harder. Long passages, the "Search and look" method DOES NOT WORK. They don't ask you stuff directly from the passage anymore, it really tests your reading comprehension ability.

Math- Really wasn't too bad, I was just way too tired and just didn't care. I was beat. Only advice I have is Know your trig and trig graphing, yes graphing!!

Keep in mind that this is just an opinion! I know I am praising the destroyer more than the other materials I used, but there is a reason, IT IS THE BEST DAT PREP MATERIAL OUT THERE!!

Nice improvement...good job on the grades....thanks for the break down and good luck with the rest of the process..

🙁 So were there the same number of passages with harder questions? Or less passages with harder questions?

The style and length of the reading section was basically the same the difference was the type of questions they were asking.

It was insane I wanted a dictionary, and english is my first language. It was more then tone and authors intent it, you really do have to have a certain level of reading comprehension.

wow, nice grades!
I guess RC is a lot harder this year!
Congrats on your improvements.🙂

Congrats,

You imporved and thats what you were aiming ... I'm sure your in good shape.

Good Luck

Congrats - those scores are unreal, and yes Destroyer is amazing and no doubt helped you boost your scores significantly! Just curious though - how did you approach the RC and what do you think you could have improved on in that section?

Great grades...glad it worked out for you, you should have no problem in getting into the school of your choice. Good Luck!

nicely done... good improvment !!!

enjoy the rest of the summer and good luck with the rest !!!!
