Hey Guys!! So I took my DATs last week here is a break down of my scores:
PAT 17
QR 16
RC 17
Bio 21
Gen Chem 21
Organic 23
Total Sci 22
AA 20
Well.. I can honestly say that it is such a relief I do not have to study for this exam any longer! I spent about three months of hard core studying about five to six hours a day. I mostly concentrated on my sciences as you can see from my scores. Thhis was the second time I took this exam. The first time I was stupid enough to just study the Kaplan material and did not take anyone elses advise to utilize other sources. kaplan was great at giving me the basic foundation I needed but there is very little chance to get high scores with studying Just Kaplan.
For Biology: I first reviewed the AP cliffs. They were very helpful in just refreshing my memory to some impt Bio concepts, however, not enough detail I felt. I went over the destroyer about three times trying to understand not only the correct choices but looking back at my Campbells and Wikepedia on the specific things I was not sure of. I think that was the best method to study for Bio. The actual DAT concentrated on a lot of the same topics I learned in the destroyer.
Chemistry: Was my weakest subject. I received a 15 in this section last time and went up six points which I think is huge! I did some old Kaplan test but they were not enough. I took some achiever tests and freaked out because I was doing sooo horrible on them! so I took the AP chem hammered the concepts that I was weak on and then went over some destroyer chem about twice. I do feel as though destroyer chem is much harder than the real test but Thank Good ness for that because on the real test i barely had to think!
Organic: One of my best subjects. I find organic to be really interesting. I would go over some mechanisms and know the intermediates to some reactions. Kaplans information was pretty good on the first semester organic you can def get about and 18 with just Kaplan. But for those who want to do much better memorize the road maps from the destroyer and really work thru the problems. I also used topscore at the end which helped me a lot with speed.
QR: I absolutely despise math! I barely studied for this section. It was things that I havent learned in over five years mostly high school math from sequential two and three. i dont think I can give great advice for this section. But I would advise to take this section seriously. My test was all word problems that took me foreverrrrr!!
PAT: I shoulda bought Crack the PAt! But I just did the topscore and achiever tests. kaplan PAT stuff sucks!! Its way too easy.. If you just do kaplan you will start crying on the real test I assure you!
RC: reading was pretty easy I am not sure why I got a low grade on this section! My passages were all scientific and really interesting to read. Advise to people just beginning to study read the newspaper everyday!!!
other then that.. I just want to thank everyones for their kind words and advice!! I hope to chatting with all of you again very soon!!!
