Hello guys,
I am basically done with the application--including the f-en personal statement. Do you guys think I might be forgetting anything--common mistakes?
Here are the schools I checked:
Arizona
Case
Creighton
Howard
Marquette
Meharry
NYU
Buffalo
Temple
Connecticut
Kentucky
Louisville
UNC
UPENN
Pittsburgh

Applying to Howard and Meharry, because I am a Pakistani, I don't know if its thats an advantage or disadvantage. Sticking with Case, just in case if I don't get in anywhere this year, I should have a good chance at Case next year. Any schools you think I should replace? Why?

Thank you,

Mask667

umm...what state is your residence in? that determines a lot

Umm, you could apply to Howard and Meharry, but you should double check with other people about your status as an underrepresented minority. As far as I know--I might be wrong--you are still considered an asian, who for the most part are considered overrep. I know indians are overrep, but I also think that other Desis (if that's the right word)--Pakistanis, Bangladeshis, etc-- might be overrep.

Don't want you to lose $$$ since they are very selective in terms of race.

Don't bother wtih UConn, and Case since it is too late for both

Yea Case is booked till March,

I also have heard, but its not for sure, that Kentucky and Louisville are starting to fill up- so you might want to check before you submit-

Good Luck- Alittle late, eh?

Is it still all good with Creighton?

Pretty sure Creighton is all good.

Unless you are a North Carolina res Id pass on UNC they do all their out of state interviews first in Sept. and Oct. mainly instate on the other couple dates they have.

I am a North Carolina resident--from eastern North Carolina--university: East Carolina University.

i am a nc resident as well, and i can tell you that it looks like if you get an interview there it will be in jan. and you will probably be placed on the alternate list, unless your stats are unbelievable.

as i said earlier, i know a girl who sent in her aadsas the beg. of august and it wasn't received by unc until the beg. of oct. and she didn't interview until jan. b/c there were that many qualified people ahead of her. she had very good stats and did get in off the alternate list but she pretty much raised the biggest stink in the world to get in off of the alternate list. 🙄

obviously, this is just one story, but the fact that people seem to think there will be more applicants this year than last year certainly doesn't help either. all you can do is apply and wait and see what happens. 🙂

I have submitted the application, here are the schools that I decided on:

Arizona
Nova
Louisville
Univ. detroit mercy
Univ of michigan
Creighton
New Jersey
NYU
Buffalo
UNC
Upenn
pittsburgh
temple
Tennessee
Marquette
INdiana
Univ if mayland
Tufts University
VCU

So, what do you think? I will update this when I recieve my GPA from ADSAAS and the DAT when I take it.

Mask667

when do you plan on taking the DAT?

October 17th is the planned date.

Dunno, but I think it's kind of late for SDNers. But I know plenty of people who don't know SDN who haven't finished applying yet.

However, get your arse moving. Earlier is always better.

I am very familiar with Louisville and VCU and there is no chance you are getting into those. They have 1000 out of state apps that they haven't even gone through yet; and over 2000 total. I would stick with your UNC and other private institutions. Good Luck!

Good luck, Mask. We're rooting for you!

Now go ahead and study your Pakistani butt off for those DATs. If you do well enough on those, it won't matter WHEN you applied! Check out the DAT discussion forum for some great study advice. Let us know if you have any specific questions.

Thank you guys, I will need the encouragement. I have also started on the UNC supplementary application, and hope to hand it before the end of this week.

Thank you once again,

Mask667

Your odds are definitely better going with 19 schools than with 1 or 2, no matter what schools they are. If you read app books they talk about the statistics of it all, and your chances skyrocket with multiple applications. If you can handle the mental (and monetary) rigor of 19 apps, I think you have the right idea.

Oh I forgot to mention UConn as well, so it would 20.
