I'm a second year microbiology major (undergrad) and recently I have been wondering if I really want to keep doing this- I have been trudging along diligently for the past year and a half only to receive mediocre grades in my science courses, which has made me resent them, I just don't enjoy them anymore. I have done well in the non-science for the most part, but with the BSCPM being the major factor in medical school gpa considerations- should i just jump ship and try something else? I have almost completed the med school pre reqs, with only a year physics and another semester of o chem to go..is it possible to change my major and then just take the MCAT and apply? I still have the desire to be a physician...I want to help people and believe I would do well in medical school, but right now I'm just so burnt out from science and mediocre grades.

What is your BCPM GPA? Your overall GPA? If both are competitive, switch majors.
Why not get a lib arts degree, continue to pursue your interest in medicine through clinical stuff, and then give it a go...or not. But don't stay in a major you aren't interested in...you don't need it for med school, just the pre reqs.

Yep, you can change majors to do what ever you'd enjoy. As long as you finish the med school pre-reqs and take the MCAT (And do well...) that's all that matters.

major doesn't matter, choose whatever u want, just take the premed requirements and do good on those
If you are burnt out in science in undergrad and don't like them you (imo) dont stand a chance in med school. Its all hard science classes. Med schools wont like the fact that you might get burnt out halfway through m1 or something. Ultimately its a decision only you can make. There are other ways of helping people.

You are resenting science classes because you did poorly
You need to evaluate why you did poorly. If you did badly because you were not interested or because it was too hard you need to evaluate your chances of not only getting in med school but getting out of it too. Too many people seem to forget that once you get in, you still have to graduate. If you are disinterested now because you did badly, what will change in med school?

Baloney.
For my science courses, I have received mostly B's and C's. Basically B's in biology courses ( which is probably ok although i'm not completely sure) and C's in chemistry, which i'm pretty sure have sank my chances overall. The way things are looking, by the end of the year my BSCPM will probably be about a 3.0, which I could probably improve by application time to a 3.3 or 3.4 (the end of next year). My school advisors say that a 3.2+ BSCPM is good for med school, but i am wondering if schools look at individual classes as opposed to the whole BSCPM.
I have excellent verbal and reasoning skills-my parents think I should go to law school however I don't see law as a completely honest profession. Even if i do switch my major to something non-science, i hope that theres still a chance I could make it to med school.

Again I think you can make it if you work hard. But I still dont understand what will change that will allow you to make it out.

Ah yeah, Medmon you bring up a good point. i forgot to mention, i enjoy classes that relate to life science, its the physical science that i resent. perhaps med school would not be a good fit for me, although i'm thoroughly fascinated with the science of the human body.
Oh I thought you meant all science including biology. I mean, I would imagine if you can picture yourself slogging through the physical sciences in med school (and I imagine it will be tough) then your enjoying life sciences may be able to carry you through.
This analogy is probably incorrect but I imagine it like going to law school because you like arguing but you dislike reading/memorizing. You need both, so sometimes having one doesnt allow you to go through with it. /shrug

Not all lawyers defend obviously guilty drug dealers and get them off due to a loop holes in the law, albeit an incredible talent that requires a great knowledge base. I will not delve any further into this, but will leave you with this. Our president is a lawyer...google his life story for some inspiration.
