Door management with a walker

Hi all, does anyone have any suggestions on helping a patient manage a self-closing Door while managing a walker? The door is a “fire code” Door so the weight and speed of closing can’t be tampered with (at an ALF). I’ve tried a couple different strategies with a very anxious patient and haven’t been having much success in finding a great method for this person. Any suggestions appreciated. Thanks!

If balance allows, have pt to hold the door with 1 hand (2nd hand is on walker) and let the door go when pt clears the door-swing area. They need to be close to the walker and the door while doing that.
