I was wondering if I should double major in biology and a humanities course. Would that be a good idea?? I was also wondering if a should do a BA or BS?? I don't just want to concentrate on a science major.

Do what:
(1) You love
(2) You do well in

Combining these two yields highest results.

Note: Your major on its own has nearly zero impact on your application. It's what you do with it. BA/BS also doesn't matter, though some schools can favor one or the other based on what they focus on. (IE: Some holistic-focused schools may like a BA because it offers a lot more AO courses, some research-focused schools may like a BS because you are more focused on the BCPM courses).

May I ask why? Two major like that that don't have a lot in common can be a struggle. If anything consider humanities as a minor. Look into anthropology you might be interested in that more.

I did a BS in biology and a BA in philosophy. If I had to do it all over again, I would have just majored in philosophy and done my medical school prereqs.

Study what you enjoy! I promise you will end up happier and more successful.

I triple majored in two very different sciences and a humanities.

I wouldn't suggest it, it's definitely not for the faint of heart.

I am a double major in engineering and humanities. It can get hard, but I love my majors! It is definitely not easy but only do it if YOU want to. Don't do it for med school.

I haven't gone through the application process yet, so take my advice with a grain of salt. If you are completely set on med school and you love both of your majors (in unrelated areas), you should go ahead because it is more likely that you will do well since you are so invested in your classes.

If I had to do it all over again, I would probably just major in humanities and take my pre-reqs and some advanced courses to prove my competence. This would leave me time to hone my extracurriculars. Keep in mind, I would not do it for med school, but for me since my humanities courses have been far more interesting than my engineering classes.

That being said, engineering or any other science, offers you a lot of opportunities that can be hard to ignore. For example, the strong quantitative skills you learn from engineering are easily transferable to research. There are a ton of research opportunities for engineers plus I don't know any engineering major who would take an unpaid internship 🙂 Finally, who can forget a ton of engineering scholarship opportunities (well, not a ton, but compared to other majors...).

So, you get the idea. It's a very personal cost-benefit analysis. And you should make your decision considering all of these factors. I wish you the best of luck, and let me know if you have any more questions!
