I'm currently signed up to take the June 17th exam, however, I don't think I'll be ready
(key word is think*, I may very well be ready as I have been scoring very well on the science sections, but haven't even started the verbal and won't be able to until a good week from now)

But I was wondering,
is it perhaps possible for me to register again for the July 8th exam?
That way I will have a fall back date in case I don't think I'm ready the night before the 17th of June.

If possible, is this recommended?
I heard you receive an omission if you don't go to your exam. What does this mean in the context of my application strength??

You can NOT hold two registration dates at once.

From the AAMC FAQ:

How long will I have to wait until I can retake the exam?

There is no defined waiting period between tests. However, you may only register for one testing session at a time, and you must wait until the second day following your exam administration to register for your next exam.
