well i have a doubt in cell biology in review book it says gap junction as a part of junctional complex , and in cards it says gap junction is not a part of junctional complex only tight , intermediate and desmosomes
which one is right ? cards or review and would like to know the reason too

pemphigus does it affect desmoglenins or TLG , IN CARDS AND REVIEW IT S DIFFERENT TOO , I KNOW DESMOGLENINS IS COMPOSED OF IAP AND TLG BUT SPECIFICALLY is it tlg?
IF ANYONE KNOW ABT THESE clearly ,can u explain to me with reasons
thanks

I think that it's a part of it:

Please check this:

it's said that :"Autoimmune disease pemphigus vulgaris - antibodies made against a desmoglein result in loss of cell-cell adhesion & severe blistering of skin"

Good luck!

well i checked those websites ,thank you first of all hanan , i really appreciate ur help.
3rd and 4th line in that website (one u gave me)

says nothin abt gap junction as junctional complex it says desmosomes and adherens junction (tight) as part of junctional complex , can u check on this and let me know what u think abt this ,the flash cards and review books r contraDICTORY too so feels little annoyed with it .
last year I STUDIED JUST CARDS THERE WAS NO CONFUSION NOW GOIN THRU REVIEW AND CARDS makes me crazy .
LITTLE KNOWLEDGE ....LITTLE CONFUSION , TOOOOOOO MUCH KNOWLEDGE TOO MUCH CONFUSION.......... (quote/ confusious  )

callin all grads or any other dds people who could answer my doubt in the topics mentioned above or people planin to take part 1
thanks

According to Stevens & Lowe (Human histology), the junctional complex is a particular junctional system that only exists whithin some epithelial cells. Its compounds (cited from the apical surface to the basal lamina)are: tight junction, adhesion belt and desmosome.

So, you’re right there is some confusion in Kaplan review. However, in the figure reffered to when talking about junctional complex, there is only the 3 compounds (tight junction, adhesion belt and desmosome)illustrated in the left side of the figure (5.1)

Now, talking about Pemphigus, it’s clearly said in Kaplan review that antibodies disrupt transmembrane linker glycoproteins (TLG), which are desmoglenins per se. Now, if you still have any doubt, the link I gave you confirm that.

well i checked couple of books most books doesnt say abt gap junction as jc
decks say its not, some say yes which to believe i dont ,but what i assume is gap junction is not included in jcomplex as it is not an attachment structure that holds cell unlike tight ,zonula adherens and desmosomes ,so cleared of doubts now .

pemphigus is clear after i went thru ur site and kaplan it affects tlg of desmoglenins and desmocollins
thanks hanan for the websites and the explanations
