Does anyone know how much importance should be given for embryological dev
of organs .eg aotic arch dev?which all topics r of prime imp IN EMBRYOLOGY
checkin syllabus it says 2 questions from arch dev is there any topic in embryology of prime imp for exam ?

does anyone think
the syllabus given to us is perfectly poised for the exam as they say eg: 20 odd questions from gross anatomy 5 questions from osteology ,I mean the total number of questions that is specified for each topic by ada in the booklet ,do they stick to it?

i had questions in dev of aortic arch , relation of arch to parts of embryo... relation of arch to mouth....

well i didnt count on the day of the exam.. but i had followed the syllabus and marks breakup.. it was pretty useful..
another thing... if u look online, they ahve given the breakup of marks , subject wise and topic wise plus sub topics...BUTif u have the NBDE part 1 application booklet , they have done away with the sub topics marks distribution and only limited to topics...
meaning , For EG: lets say .. for histo u have 10 questions but anything in histo can come ... sub topics are not marked for number of questions...
thus u can have multiple questions on one topic and none on the others...and thats the way it was in my paper too....
thus u dont have the option of doing selective studies , as anything can come....

people who have given previous exams they dont follow the break up to the minute details. say if they say it is 10 marks from histology they dont follow it completly . they can give for 8 marks or 10 marks and a great amoun of discrepancy comes in physio and biochem . they never follow the break up sometimes more from biochem sometimes less so it all depends.

Also say for example say metabolic acidosis etc it can come in renal, respiratory or can be considered as acid base imbalance. so no clear demarcation exactly what topic it is considered under.

so try to do as much possible and good luck. i know it is very vast.

HI mekha

I had 2 Qc on development of cardiovascular system. One about vitelline duct and another one about development of heart...something to do with Septa/valves...can't remember correctly. And there was another embryo/dev Q on what I do not even remember. I think embryo is important. Plus to answer your Q about following the syllabus...that was my prepn trick in Part 1. I just followed the syllabus with possible number of Qs and put emphasis on the one with large number Qs...like I studied that part more . Also there are sections easier/common than others. So peruse through the syllabus! I studied the whole embryology with emphasis on organogenesis.

Good luck with prepn 👍 👍
