Downsides to UTSA?

Heard a lot of positive things about UTSA and I wanted to know about any and all cons before making a final decision.

So...if you know any inside (or not so inside) info please share.

UTSA = Mexican Central. That's why I chose not to go to undergrad there. But, the city is growing in technological advances seems like every time I go there. A lot of "thugs" though.

This could be a plus or minus depending on your age, but aren't there a lot of older and married students at UTSA compared to the other schools?

That's sort of the reputation, but I didn't see many when I interviewed.

Did anyone think the hospital was pretty old? I've consulted a few people about this and they've said that the age of the hospital shouldn't be a concern during medical school since the point is to learn the basics but I worry it might have a de-motivating effect on me. I know that sounds lame.

The Harlingen option seems awesome though, especially for a surgery rotation.

Actually, the hospital is quite new in camparison to those affiliated with other schools. IIRC, they showed a photo of the barren hospital/medical school site from the late 60s/early 70s. A lot of the other teaching hospitals in TX were built before that (I think.)

From what I have heard, the university hospital is ranked as one of the best teaching hospitals...up there with john hopkins and all...

you may want to look that up for the exact stats, but yeah...if that's true then it should motivate you!
