I'm not sure if this is relevant but I took the Jan. MCAT and received the equivalent of a 34-35 on the new MCAT (517- 129/128/130/130).

Your AO GPA does not matter, and even if it did a 3.74 would be a good GPA regardless of trends. Someone posted a very similar question yesterday and the consensus was that it doesn't matter. Your bigger concern is the overall GPA!

I've never looked at AO GPA trends, nor have I ever heard other adcomms discuss it.

Thank you for replying. Do you think it'll be fine considering the overall AO GPA is pretty decent (3.74) or do you think in the off chance I don't get in I should pursue some non-science post bacc classes?

AO GPA is not of much interest. Your BCPM GPA and cGPA are. Since they are below average for matriculants, I expect your transcript will be looked at carefully. Fortunately you say you have an upward trend over three terms.

Hi!

I am slightly concerned about my downward AO gpa trend.

My AO GPA trend is something like this: 3.9 -> 3.6 -> 3.96 -> 3.55.

The total AO GPA is something like a 3.74.

My cumulative (AO+BCPM) AMCAS GPA is around a 3.5 and my BCPM GPA is around a 3.4. I know these GPAs are not the strongest but I have gotten really great grades for the past 3 semesters (a very positive trend for the past three semesters).

I have heard of applicants being dinged for downward GPA trends and I was wondering if my AO gpa trend is alarming since it is technically downward?

@Catalystik @gyngyn would you be able to offer your input?

Thank you in advance
