Doxazosin 10mg BID with tamsulosin 0.5mg daily

Has anyone seen that combination for BPH? Doesn't make sense as they are 2 alpha blockers.

No. Perhaps they had the Cardura controlling their blood pressure with added benefits for BPH and the physician wanted more specific BPH b/c patient had increased symptoms, so added Flomax but wanted to keep the Cardura on board for BP benefit?
 
More likely they were on tamsulosin 0.4mg daily and wanted to increase dose. The PBM wouldn't pay for more than 1 daily since it loses uro-selectivity at higher doses. They added another cheaper alpha blocker and titrated to desired effect.

I truly hope not as alpha blockers worsen mortality when used to treat HTN

God help us all.... this seems likely. I've often done this exact same thing with other drugs.
 
have seen Cardura + Flomax and Finasteride + Flomax of late
