the president lied about knowing about the affair, and lied about the payments. he really didnt know that cohen had arranged the NDA? please. additionally, the NDA probably wasnt legally binding. you sort of have to sign a contract to make it legal.



this is not a "nothing" story. clinton got a BJ and it was the biggest story around for years. sadly, it may not even break the top 5 of trump's scandals

1. He held no public office until the presidency. He was a candidate (not an elected official) in 2000, which is BEFORE his alleged affair with the porn star.
2. The payment is NOT a clear campaign finance violation. There is zero proof that campaign finances were used to pay the porn star.
3. NDA knowledge does not matter. The ONLY thing that matters legally is if campaign finances were used to pay her off. There is no PROOF of this at all. Just as there is no proof of any Russian collusion between Trump and the Russians, yet socialists accept the propaganda as proof.

You just exonerated him. The campaign can pay any amount of money for these things legally. The illegal thing would be if Cohen "donated" the money to the campaign personally.

The new tax plan is definitely not good for me personally. I live in a high income tax state and most of my income doesn't come from passive investments. One of my family members lives in California and will also suffer. But another family member doesn't make much money and lives in Seattle and will definitely benefit - probably 2-3k/year - which is huge.

The main reason I support the law is that lowering corporate taxes in the US will make it more attractive to businesses, to set up shop, to relocate, and to expand. This is not a zero sum game between corporations and humans. It's a zero sum game between domestic corporations and international corporations. If we have a relatively favorable environment here, companies will more likely open, relocate, and hire here.

Some companies may choose to pocket their increased earnings and pay out bonuses to execs. But, with new higher profit margins, other companies will come in and compete. The final result will be more jobs, more opportunities, and higher wages in the long run.

So it's nothing personal for me. I lose $$ initially from this tax plan. But I really believe it's good for the country in the long run. I guess time will tell.
 
looking at this years taxes, and putting this years numbers to next years, my accountant tells me that i will pay roughly $10,000 more next year.

ive stopped all charitable donations.

Trump holds all the cards despite what CNN wants. He can't be indicted and he can pardon anyone he wants for any reason. Manafort could commit murder and Trump could pardon him in seconds.

To control Trump, you have to control Congress. No other way. This other stuff is side show.

Article II, Section 2 of the U.S. Constitution states as follows:

The President…shall have the power to grant reprieves and pardons for offenses against the United States, except in cases of impeachment.
In general, a pardon is the act of forgiving a crime. A pardon nullifies punishments or other legal consequences of a crime. However, a presidential pardon does not expunge a crime or remedy the past act. In other words, the crime can still be taken into consideration against the wrongdoer (e.g. on a job application or when giving a sentence for a different crime). For example, if the pardoned person is later tried for a similar crime, the pardoned crime may be taken into consideration when giving the sentence for the new crime. The pardon does not blot out the past.

One key thing to keep in mind: Presidential pardons only apply to federal criminal acts against the United States.

did you know that that only affects a small percent of the US cars sold in China? for example, of the 939,000 cars Ford sold in China from January to October, only 2% were imported. and apparently, even though this news was reported, the trade tariffs have not actually been changed...

Presidents can be indicted (opinion) - CNN

he does hold a lot of cards. thats why independent investigations and the separation of powers are so important. like i said before, we will see how strong our democracy really is. either he goes down, or we live in a banana republic. that is really the bottom line.

it will be so gratifying when the man who has turned the US government into his own personal ATM machine goes down. he will be kicking and screaming like the classless clown that he is

My prediction is that Trump will be pres until 2024. There will be a stable transition of power as always, with no contitutional crisis. What's your prediction?

as much as i hate to admit it, i think he serves out his full first term. then, he doesnt get re-elected. house will go blue in november, senate maybe, and he will get nothing done in the last 2 years. i dont think there is the political will to boot him out. if mueller turns up a smoking gun, then maybe we end this sooner. he is pretty much bulletproof, no matter how many laws he breaks. doesnt really matter. THAT is the reason he has to go. we (america) have to show that you cant just break the rules without consequences.

i can understand supporting a conservative candidate. i can understand voting AGAINST hillary. but to defend this piece of trash as if he is acutally GOOD man -- as if he has done nothing wrong. as if he is a benefit to our society. as if he is fair to women, minorities, underpriviliged -- it is embarrassing. i can respect conservative and republican idealogy. but i really cannot respect anyone who defends the man who is donald trump

maybe

farmers, evangelicals, lower middle class will not be as enthusiastic this time around. their lives really are not much better, if at all. minorities and the democratic base will be energized against him. if he doesnt win the republican primary, the GOP would have a better shot. democrats need to find a leader that is charismatic isnt old AF

It's a straightforward question. Pick a crime that you have EVIDENCE for and spill it. If not, we can continue to talk about how Trump is an SOB, a liar, a misogynist, etc. But the idea that you can conflate these things, and possibly not recognize you are doing it, is partly why conservatives fear Democrats.

Corruption this deep takes time to investigate, If Drumpf has nothing to hide it is an simple as agreeing to an interview and releasing financial records

Here is my personal problem with trump. He tears apart our country. We are not all Americans any more, we are “Lying pos’s on the planet” on one side, and similarly on the other.

He feasts on breaking down civility. “Lyin’ Ted”. “Crazy joe Biden”. “Little Obama”. “Crooked Hillary”. “Wacky Glenn Beck”.

And that encourages Americans to be uncivil to each other. To not work together, but rather to despise each other and not tolerate each other’s opinions and not respect that we are all in this together in the greatest country in the world.

I mean why the heck insult a great American like John McCain who gave everything he had for this country?

In truth, Russia doesn’t need to do anything else, because trump alone is doing its dirty work in terms of tearing apart the US...

I’ve lived through Nixon, Reagan, and both Bushes. And I hated their policies. But I never feared that they did not have the best interest of the USA, like I do right now.

Yea.....those indictments of “lying” to the FBI are a crock. Manafort indicted for things before he was even part of the campaign is a crock. Jared owing billions to the Russians is a crock. Btw Jared just obtained full security clearance. But how can he get it if he is guilty of treason in your eyes? The folks guilty of division and hatred are on TV..... just because you buy into it doesn’t mean everybody else does.

None of these are crimes. 1. hyperbole, its an expression of speech 2. hyperbolic crude "guy's talk." 3. who cares, not a crime to say Obama was born in Africa.

At WORST, 1-3 are in poor taste and immature. They are NOT crimes. They are NOT impeachable offenses.

SAYING these things is not a crime. My god, you people need to get your trump derangement syndrome under control.

Show us any hard proof evidence of any of his "crimes," I'm happy to see it.

He is not a racist. I want results from the President, such as decreased taxes, more jobs, border security to stop the invasion, and re installation of a spine into american international politics instead of apology tours. We all knew his personality coming in. It is immature, not professional in many aspects, but he is getting great results and I'll take that any day over the mulit-faced personality that all other politicians are.

Some of the things Trump has said and done have alarmed me. But when I see how the media and others react to them, I am even more alarmed. When people say, "I hate him and therefore he's a criminal", THAT is a bigger problem than Trump. When the media says, "He was mean to us so we are free to use our platform to try to destroy him", that's a BIGGER problem than Trump.

I really value the separation between emotion and rational thought. When people can't separate those things or choose not to, it's a BIGGER problem than Trump to me.

Trump survives because, although he is flawed, he is exposing bigger flaws in others and in our society.
