D=rotates light to the right and L=rotates light to the left. R and S simply denote how the atoms are arranged. (CW or CCW) Upvote 0 Downvote

LS as a way to remember D is R and L is S.... is the rule that D=R and L=S but R does not always equal D and S does not always equa L? Upvote 0 Downvote
