I always thought that D=R and L=S, but i also know that L/D system has nothing to do with R/S... can someone clarify? thanks!

You're right, D/L has nothing to do with R/S, i.e. either R or S config can correspond to D or L.

D=rotates light to the right and L=rotates light to the left. R and S simply denote how the atoms are arranged. (CW or CCW)

thats what i thought but i remember my PR teacher saying DR. LS as a way to remember D is R and L is S....

is the rule that D=R and L=S but R does not always equal D and S does not always equa L?
