I was just wondering what is everyone's dream school as of now and why?

SLU, cuz that's where I'm attending in August

uva...really enjoyed undergrad and it's supposed to have the happiest med students ever.

I haven't visited any yet, so I can't tell. There's a small number of schools that are definitely not for me, but I'm pretty open-minded about the remaining 100+.😛

Dartmouth... great school, good reputation, good residency matches and oh i like snow

Californian... with average numbers. 🙁
you should have moved over here to the east coast
where the sun doesnt shine everyday

Tie btwn a few schools for me (sorry I am not ready to narrow it down until I have finished tabulating pre-interview schools)

My dream schools (in no specific order)
1. Baylor COM
2. Vanderbilt
3. Penn

There are many more but I just am not ready to list them...So for any adcoms looking at this...know that this is a very very very short list that does not include all the schools I think would be amazing for ME.
Wow...I'm already giving disclaimers!

University of Washington School of Medicine. There's nothing else even remotely close to seattle.

Any of the 44 I applied too.
...Wow 44, lol. Seriously, I agree with you, any school that is gracious enough to accept me, will be my dream school(s). Did I say, wow 44, yet? 🙄

It's actually not that snowy compared to other parts of New England (or from what I'm told, the upper midwest.) No idea about the med school per se, but it was a great place to go as an undergrad and it's a lovely part of the country

Harvard!! But I'm not applying there.

Penn, Dartmouth, U Wash

Mt. Sinai or Cornell. Anything to get close to my boyfriend (which I suppose would include NYU as well, but Mt. Sinai and Cornell impress me more on their websites).

Hopkins😀 but I won't be applying for awhile....

Harvard!! But I'm not applying there.

haha, same here. Best profs in the world, amazing interdisciplinarity...and not a flippin' shot...another one would be UWash b/c I love Seattle, but I'm not a western resident, so no chance either...

you did say 'dream', which indicates that this is where it would stay, in my dreams

Standford for its great reputation and Pass/Fail grading system.

but many other schools have a great rep and also only use a pass/fail grading system.

your reasons = not good enough....:meanie::meanie::meanie:

Dream med school, until then
I'll hit the books and apply again
That's the only thing to do
Until my med school dreams come true

Because I want a school
Without a flaw
I want a dream med school
So I don't have to go into law

(Apologies to Bobby Darin)

OU, Sooner born and Sooner bred!

Hey Riceman, I think the earlier poster you were responding to was talking about Stanford's "true" pass/fail. If I remember correctly from my interview there, their grades are either pass or fail for the pre-clinical and clinical years (though I could very well be wrong). Also, I don't think they have class rank. This differs from other honors/high pass/ pass/ fail systems which essentially feel like traditional ABCDF systems with different names. Anybody else know about their system want to chime in?

UCSF

Great program, supportive faculty, happy students, and all of it in one of the best cities in the country! Can't beat that!

University of Washington School of Medicine. There's nothing else even remotely close to seattle.

Seconding this. It was actually my only interview, then I got waitlisted (in the "you're-probably-not-going-to-get-in-but-hey-stranger-things-have-happened" category), and I just found out a couple weeks ago that I got in. Other people may like the Ivies better, but to me the feeling of actually getting into my dream school is pretty damn awesome.

I hope you checked all the course requirements and letters of rec requirements. Or else you are just wasting money.

Good luck!

I was just wondering what is everyone's dream school as of now and why?

Wright State University School of Medicine.

I enjoyed my UG experience and have a lot of friends in the area. I'm probably the only person voting for WSU.

HST: i've already built so many good connections here and i love boston

Dang, I can't believe it took 34 posts for Duke to come up.

Then again, I'm biased. 😛

Seriously, though, I'm AT my dream med school. Couldn't be happier with it. :luck:

1. nyu (location)

UCSF, no question

jazzman: Gratz! Expect a pm or two when my turn rolls around.

Hm. Good point. UWSOM would have been a close second (or maybe even above Duke) had I had a snowball's chance in hell of getting in there.

Me? I'm white. I went to school in California. I'm upper middle class. Sooooo even though I grew up in Washington, (11 years!) no chance for me.

rochester or SUNY buffalo...crazy amounts of research going on there, great hospitals and decent in state tuition

Pitt. My family and boyfriend are here. and i just love the burgh.

UCLA = hottest asian girls

UCLA = tons of hot white girls, occasional hot asian girl

what can I say, i have white fever

actually, UCSB got hotter white girls 😀 UCLA white girls are ugly compare to them. Go to Solveng now! Just don't catch STDs
