I've been out of school for the past 3 years now... and now that I'll be starting again in a couple of months, the old dreams where I have a big test that I havn't studied for are starting to come back. Anyone else getting the same thing?

Are you on drugs?

j/k. I had a dream a few weeks ago in which I got my grades back in the mail and had 2 D's an F and a C. I woke up sweating a little.

lol, i have the same dreams... Like you will go into class and get the test thinking "My god... i have NO idea whats going on!!" and at the end of the dream you loose your scholarships and what not... not very fun dreams

i've had those dreams too, but i start rationalizing inside my dream, telling myself this has to be a dream, and then just sit their happily flunking whatever test i'm not prepared for 😀

if you ever look down at a test in a dream and can't understand what's on the page, it's because the part of your brain that you use to read is inactive during REM sleep.

now why i'm always in my underwear.. that i don't know! i'm guessing it has something to do with my amygdala

I feel like I'm going to have an anxiety attack when I wake up... the strange thing is that if it were to happen in real-life... I don't think I would be stressing quite as much as I do in my dreams. I wonder if there is a correlation btwn people that have these dreams and people with high anxiety... I wonder if there's a relationship btwn productivity and high anxiety... I wonder if there's a relationship btwn dental students and high anxiety... hmmm.

I was taking chemistry and plant biology at the time - I dreamt that I had to find the density of a cucumber.

so that's what's going on in the dream i always have where i am sitting there trying to finish and everyone else is done and leaving and it takes me like an hour to finish one problem because i can't read it.... sweet 🙂

I keep having the same dream over and over every couple of months:

I am going merrily along with my semester, when I reach final exam time and realize there's this ONE CLASS I didn't to go to all semester because I forgot that I registered for it!! So at the end...I'm panicking because I'm going to fail it and there's nothing I can do about it at that point!!

I had a dream that i was going to take my DAT and on my way to the testing center there were aliens and combine forces trying to kill me. I had an mp5 and a hand gun with 50% health.

Needless to say i beat them all and took my test without dying.

I was playing half life 2 those days and preparing for the DAT.

That's pretty wild... I used to have the same dream! I graduated in december but some mornings when I wake up I still feel like I didn't do my homework or didn't study for a test. I takes me a while before I realize that I am not in school anymore.

yup, same dream here too! although it's clearly not as severe, this is the same way a brain with post traumatic stress disorder works

(i took a course called "sleep, dreams and altered states" -- it was one of my favorites.. along with psychopharmacology  )

Oh my gosh, I totally have the same dream every once in a while too! It totally freaks me out!

I had a 5 year hiatus in between undergrad and dental school. It all came back pretty quickly, and I'm actually a way better student now. Hardest part is being poor again.

As for dreams, I had one the other day that I needed to use the bathroom to take a dump in the middle of my anatomy final. When I came back, the professor told me I took too long and I wouldn't pass the class unless I did some extra credit, which turned out to be a scavenger hunt to the grocery store to pick up random cuts of meat corresponding to muscles on the cadaver. I then had to deliver them to some rooftop in downtown SF. Anyway, I somehow got lost trying to leave the campus and made it to the rooftop too late. Which sucked even more, because then I missed my biochem final as well. I woke up pretty pissed off.

Yeah...school gets stressful sometimes.

OH MY GOD!!! I have this dream all of the time! That is so weird! I'll have this dream about once a month and it is so believeable! Doesn't it feel so great when you wake up and realize it's not true?

Wow..."I didn't know I had that class" is the exact dream that I'm talking about... what do you mean this is how a brain with post traumatic stress disorder works?

I walked in on my grandma while she was changing with a video camera when I was about 8 years old (my mom told me to "go take a video of grandma," and she had left her door open)... could this be the root of my issues?
