Just recently got hired on a private practitioner pharmacy. Obviously the setting is just like any pharmacy, I'm however not working the retail side. Strictly compounding and lab work in the manufacturing side of our building. I was told the usual -- Dress slacks/corterois pants, regular dress/work shoes (not sneakers) and a button up shirt (blue/white it fine).

My question is, ties? I'm assuming no if I'm not working with customers and am around machinery. Are roll up sleeve dress shirts acceptable? or should I go with short sleave (assuming short sleave is prefered). I know it seems like I'm being overly cautious, but I don't want to come in there with a tie and have them pissed. This is my first pharmacy job so I'm overly paranoid lol.

I wear khaki pants and a polo short if I'm not interacting with customers, but if I am, then I wear a button-up shirt with a tie. I don't know why you'd need a tie if you're compounding, but what you can do is bring one that matches your ensemble and if they want it, put it on, and that way you're covered in the event of wanting a tie/not wanting a tie. Under the coat it's pretty hard to tell anyway.

Congratulations on the job in the tough times =] My only question is, what the hell is corterois?

Yeah... I've never even looked up or attempted to spell the word. My appologies on the misfortunate spelling on my behalf lol. Yeah... I'm beyond surprised I even got the job. Had to take a math exam, pharmacology exam (both 50 Q's each) then take a PXT exam with 200 customer relation/reasoning questions, 40 word analogy, 40 math problems, and more... I was blown away because he said the job doesn't require certification. I was apparently selected because I am studying Mosb's PTCB exam book and calculations books for my CPht certification (which I notified him of the fact that in less than 6 months I'll go get certified) and he seemed impressed *shrugs. Told me most of his employees aren't certified since they're not a chain pharmacy. I just can't believe he actually started me out at $11.00 an hour, I know most entry level is only around $7.30-9. Hell, I might even get a raise when I get certified or stick around for a year, so I'm beyond exhuberant about landing this position lol. I've been searching for a pharmacy job for over 3 months... so I guess it's kind of well-deserved. It's not like I'm joe shmo off the street, I actually know alot about pharmacy already.
