I think it's about the past bankruptcy. It's a good school, unfortunately a lot of the faculty had to leave around the bankruptcy, but it's more institutional politics/business than you and I would care for. But the school's stable now and like any school, there's always turnover (hopefully the good stay and the bad leave). I got in and would've gone if I hadn't gotten into my state school. Personally, I think for a private school, it doesn't have that national reputation. I'm from Texas and Texans don't know anything about Drexel/MCP/Hahnemann, makes for a painful Thanksgiving dinner conversation explaining the school. But that's not a good reason to reject a school. MCP/Hahnemann is regionally very well respected in the tri-state area at the very least. Philadelphia is very tough city for med centers. You've got Penn, Temple, and Jefferson. And Drexel's undergrad is located next to Penn. It's a fairly big shadow. Plus the east coast is filled with old schools with reputations dating back. MCP/Hahnemann has a rich history and there are a lot of people who respect it. The bashing is just something to past the time; most people would be happy/thankful to just be able to go to med school.
