Hello,
I am interested in the Drexel IMS program. I was wondering if someone could give me break-down on the course schedule for each semester and even class times. I just wanted to get a sense of what classes are offered and when. Thanks in advance, I know it is a specific question!

I doubt this request is possible. It would take a ridiculous amount of time. A more general question would probably be better.

A list of the curriculum would be impossible and take a ridiculous amount of time? I just want a break down of the classes for the year as it is not listed on the website.

Here's a novel idea, why don't you call the school?

I did call the school. It was impossible to get a hold of anyone who knew. I thought this would be a good way to get the information, since it is forum. You know people come here to find advice, information, insight. A way to help make informed decisions. I guess not

becool, sorry you've had to face some negativity here, you asked a valid question, and this is a forum, so I don't see what the big deal is.

I don't know if this will help you, but on IMS site, under curriculum it describes:

"The IMS curriculum involves a full-time commitment to rigorous coursework with strong academic requirements. Six major medical school courses are taken simultaneously with the College of Medicine first-year class. These include Medical Biochemistry, Cell Biology & Microanatomy, Medical Physiology, Medical Nutrition, Medical Immunology, and Medical Neuroscience. The medical school lectures are simulcast to the Health Sciences Campus (located in Center City, Philadelphia) from the Drexel University College of Medicine campus (located in East Falls, Philadelphia). The lectures are also videotaped and available in the Health Sciences library as well as being accessible via streaming video on the web. The students take the exact same courses and exams as the medical students and are evaluated based on their performance in comparison to our medical school students. Performance on tests, quizzes, and assignments equal to the mean grade of the medical school class signifies a letter grade of "B" for the IMS students. Thus, IMS students receiving A's and B's are performing at the top 50% of the medical school class and can then present themselves with strong academic credentials before the admissions committee. This permits medical school admissions committees to directly evaluate the student's competence compared with their own first year medical school class. This allows students an opportunity to test their preparation, motivation, and commitment to medicine.

In addition to the medical school courses, students take a medical ethics course each semester. The campuses are approximately five miles apart and a University shuttle provides free transportation between the two.

Additionally, course conferences and laboratory components for IMS students are conducted at the Health Sciences Campus where the program is based. The IMS curriculum allows exposure to both medical school lectures and individual attention from medical school professors in small group conferences."

since it says you take courses with med students, I would think that you should look at the drexel med school site perhaps as well to get a better feel for the lineup schedule.
:luck:

As a former IMS student there is no real online schedule posted. We followed the medical school schedule. Typically the IMS office gave us a couple months of the IMS schedule in advance and it is subject to many changes at any time with little notice. Thus it would have to be copied from a hard-copy to this forum in order to help this person. You have asked for a very large task from people that are stressed, busy, and trying to get into medical school. Here I copied and pasted some of the medical school schedule. get rid of gross anatomy, genetics and some other fluff and you would have an IMS schedule. Unhelpful, Negativity? ok

(I just looked this over and it looks like Drexel hasn't started gross so this IS the IMS schedule except for genetics.)

Hello BruceWayne, thank you for your post and the information. I am not sure why people have to be negative either. I guess people that are stressed, busy, and trying to get into medical school, must have a lot on their plate and therefore may feel the need to be negative and cut other people down for some reason. Here is a novel idea, if you dont like or it is too much dont post anything or rather dont even log onto SDN if you are so busy.

I apologize I asked for such a demanding task. I am used a system in wich you take a couple of classes per semester and the times are set every week. Even most of the medical school class schedules I have seen online are pretty set and dont really vary from week to week. If someone asked me what my class schedule was for a particular year or semester, it would have taken me about 5 mins at the most to write that out. I didn't realize Drexel had such a specific and varied schedule. Had I know, I obviously wouldn't have posted asking for a class schedule! I do thank you for the class schedule though, even if it was out of spite 🙂
