I haven't gotten any postcards at all, but I called their office two weeks ago and they told me that I was complete. They were really nice on the phone.

Also, I think that they are just now getting their operations up and going for entry in the fall. Don't get worried yet!

samkell,
G'luck w/the DO schools you have interviewed at! I would keep pursuing drexel in the meantime. I sort of wish I had applied to DO schools b/c I think I might have had a chance there, but on the same token I know I want/need more experience/schooling before med school, whether it is MD or DO.

If you haven't called them in a while, I would definately give them a call this week. It may very possibly be that your application is complete, but you haven't gotten the card yet! :luck:

i had a completed application in the middle of Feb and yet i still haven't heard anything from these guys. No e-mail notification, no phone calls, nothing. i had a kickass application and by overall and science GPA are def above avg. What is going on????

You think if i call them anything magically is going to change?

I think you should give them a call just to make sure! I don't think anything magical will happen , but they will atleast tell you what is going on. It is probably not necessarily a bad thing that you have not heard from them b/c I think that if they were not going to consider you they would have sent you a rejection letter. No word means they are probably still considering you or that they have not reviewd your file yet (which would be weird seeing as you've been complete for a long time!)
Good luck! :luck: :luck:

i received an email on march 26 saying ive been invited to interview and ive emailed imsinfo back a few times but havent heard anything. has anyone else experienced this? (i applied to the msp program; 2.7, 27p) thanks!

They are STILL waiting on 2 transcripts (I've sent them twice) and 1 letter of recommendation!!! 😡 I've confirmed that the letter was sent- about 2 months ago. I am at the point of giving up. I can't just keep resending these things! I really don't know what to do at this point... Any other ideas from anyone? 🙁

I've never had much luck emailing them - I will hear back 6 weeks later, lol. Try giving them a call. I had a REALLY hard time getting in touch w/the person who called to setup an interview for me. I took me 1.5 weeks and I think the only reason I got him THAT soon was b/c someone else on the boards interviewed for the IMS program on that day w/the same guy, so I knew he would be there!

I don't get it!!! 😡 I wish I had some other ideas for you. It sounds like they've gotten your MCAT scores, though...

Is there any chance the transcripts and LOR that is missing could be sent Return Reciept so that someone at the office would have to sign for it?

I would at least give it the month of April before you give up! This is such a nightmare 🙁

Planejane, have you heard anything yet??

Not a peep...I did call them back after they told me I 'should hear within a week, if that' phone conversation, and I got the same song and dance...'we will notify you if you have been invited for an interview' blah, blah, blah...I just don't think they are very organized...I mean, I sent in all of my transcripts and letters of rec in late January early Feb. and I didn't get the 'complete' postcard until the second of March..and this was 2 or 3 weeks after I had confirmed by phone that I was, in fact, complete. Oh, and that's crazy how crumbelievable got an interview for msp I thought 27 was too high for msp? Or did you interview for IMS? It seems the IMS is getting more of the 'attention' than us MSPers...perhaps because they have a bigger class to fill?? I don't know, but the wait is draining...I need to know if I should start talking to advisers where I am now (my back-up) so I can get started on my masters here and not be strung along like what the msp people are doing. This is ridiculous..and samkell if I were you I would call them and tell them that you have sent everything twice...(first confirm the correct address, it could be sitting in the wrong mailbox) and that you can't just keep spending $$ sending that crap...they seriously need to get their act together..of course, be professional and mature about it..but express your frustration at their lack of competence on this issue. Good Luck.

when i called, i was told that they are waiting for the medical school to make their decisions. I am assuming that they are waiting for "drexel" medical school to reject me before they will consider me. I still haven't heard anything from the medical school.

ohhh, i didn't even think of that! But, hrm...I actually just looked at my application progress site for drexel med school and it actually says "incomplete" but ....they still took my $$. bah. 😱

I'm going to call Drexel Med tomorrow and the MSP office as well to check.

And, I agree, they seem to be very disorganzied! 🙁

I see the same statement of "they seem very disorganized," come up very often. I worked in the IMS/MSP/DPMS/Etc.., Etc.., office for admissions last year. Actually, the admissions office is pretty organized. Mail comes into the Drexel mail room, where it can sit for a day or two before its sorted and sent to the center city campus. So there is quite a delay in getting the mail from applicants. Also, they get a ridiculous amount of transcripts/recommendations/applications a day that has to be stamped, sorted - alphabetical - and filed by hand. They hang out on an alphabetical filer waiting to be filed by a student. I could go on and on but the process, due to the volume of applications is tedious. They hire prior students to do the admissions which is good beacuse we got things done and understood where the applicants were coming from. The staff support is very small for the number of applications and programs they have. That's where the major problem is, everything takes a long time. Trying to call back applicants is the hardest because you are never there, your mom picks up and never gives you the message, or any other numerous why we can't get a hold of you. There can easily be 100+ messages a day which one student checks. It's not possible in a day to deal with everyone requests. If you have any specific questions on the process I may be able to help but that's my two cents for now. They are organized but overwhelmed, I also believe they lost an experienced advisor which would leave them woefully understaffed. Good luck. Oh, the program worked for me and 99% of my MSP classmates.

Thanks for the 2 cents, Airzonk. 🙂

I hope I hear from Drexel next week! I tried calling them on Friday, but no one answered - I figured that they took Good Friday off.

So, I just called Drexel and I was told that they have not started filling any slots in the MSP class and she didn't know when they were going to begin inviting people into the program. Two weeks ago the story was "We will start accepting people in April and if you don't hear anything in 2 weeks than give us a call."

I'm just frustrated! :scared: I am hoping I will hear something sooner rather than later because I need to be able to tell the school I teach at what I will be doing!

Has anyone else heard anything yet??

i haven't heard anything and my application was sent in in the middle of Feb and was recognized as being completed at the end of Feb. I haven't been contacted at all for an interview yet and i feel i am a very strong candidate for the program...im sure you've seen the stats i've posted.

i am very concerned but i am willing to wait it out because its either im going here or nowhere...i've applied to other schools but i really want this MSP program because i know it will put me in the best position to get a great grade on the MCAT.

I feel the same way, hardwork. 🙁

I guess they are just behind 🙁 I guess it is good for us that they "haven't started filling the class yet."

What exactly does "rolling admissions" mean, anyway? Does anyone know? I always thought it meant that applications were "first come first serve" basically. So, (hypothetically...) each "group" of prospective students consists of 100 applications. If you are the 10th person to apply to the program than you would be considered #10 in group one. After 100 applications are recieved they would put the applications into 3 different sections: (1)For Interview (2)Rejection (3)Possible Interview (and is sections 1 and 3 they would prioritize the applications). Then, they would conduct all the interviews and prioritize the applications, again. So, if you were orginally #10 in group one, maybe you moved to #30 in group one and then after the interview you moved to #26 in group one. Then, it seems they would maybe admit the top 25 people from that group, so if you were 26 they would put your application at the very top of the waitlist. If all 25 accept the invitation, then you would go into the top of the list in group two, if one person decides not the accept the invitation, then you are in!

So, back to my question...what does rolling admissions mean? Am I relatively correct??

Wow, that's a system. I just remember giving the applications that were complete to the 3 people that ultimately made the decision. They reviewed them for admit, reject, wait. Told us to call the accepted people and moved on. Those that were waited got reviewed later as the class started to shape up. That's all. If you didn't accept the invitation it didn't matter there are always people willing and waiting to get in. Towards the deadline it gets very difficult because you still have applications coming in, people waiting to be interviewed, people telling you they were complete 7 months ago, etc.,, and the actual class has only a couple of seats left or may be full. That's rolling admissions, post-bac style for you. Actual medical school admissions offices may be different and actually prioritize their lists.

So, "post-bac rolling admissions" is like semi-rolling admissions. At least at Drexel?
That is frustrating. 😕
It seems weird that a school would not make a decision about a good application just in case someone else applys with a better application.

I just feel like i've got a really great shot at this seeing as I was called for an interview 1 week after my application was complete...and my interview was over a month ago. I feel like Drexel is going to call and say "Just kidding!!! That was just a pretend interview!"

On another note, when I checked the mail today I saw a regular sized envelope from Drexel....I think my heart skipped a few beats....lol. But, it turned out to be from the financial aid office saying that they have reviewed my FAFSA and I need to fill out the special Drexel FinAid form and send it back to them. 🙂

So, the wait continues......😎 😴

Yeah, I completely understand its super frustrating. I guess now is really when people start to find out they didn't get in anywhere and have to consider plan B. Drexel post-bac office is very SLOW and it doesn't get better once your there. Hang in there if medical school is really what you want or consider other post-bacs in the area, PENN, PCOM, Bryn Mawr, Temple, etc..,

Drexel post-bac office is very SLOW and it doesn't get better once your there.

How doesn't it get any better?? Does the school just always "give you the 'run-around''? My college was like that...

Just slow in doing stuff for students sometimes.

What is the financial aid office like at Drexel?

Normal for a University. I didn't have problems.

Any updates??? Anyone?.....Anyone?......Anyone?....Bueller???

*SIGH*

Well, I still haven't heard anything and it has been 6 weeks exactly..since I received that little postcard in the mail checked "complete"......The hope is dwindling exponentially.

Well this might be an update some what, they finally cashed the Drexel check on April 11, 2007 for $65.00, the date on the check was February 23, 2007. So, they must be doing something...anyone else's check been cashed?

Any updates??? Anyone?.....Anyone?......Anyone?....Bueller???

My check was cashed the end of Feb/beg of March.

Has anyone called them at all this week? I'm not going to call them for another 2 weeks b/c I just called for an update on Monday. 😴

Funny, my check was cashed in January when I sent my application in. They didn't waste any time taking my money, but can't seem to get my app together. Well, such is life. 🙁
I hate to keep calling them b/c it's the same answer every time and when I ask to speak to someone else, I get the run around. I'm starting to think it wasn't meant to be. +pity+

Too bad you can't hand deliver the missing stuff. This is ridiculous. :bullcrap:

That would be a very good idea except I live in Georgia... Not a possibility. Even if I did hand deliver it, I'm not sure they would be able to put it in the right file. 🙄
Good luck to you guys who are still in the running. Let us know how it's going! :luck:

MSP is REALLY slow. still no interview.

😱

this program takes so long to reply... I sent my application in mid-Feb and still havent heard back. Anybody have any replies (acceptance or other)?

This is the last school I'm waiting to hear back from, so I'm pretty anxious. 3.2 overall, 2.9 science/math, 26M MCAT. Got denied from georgetown and loyola, and accepted to MW- IL. Anyone have any comments on my chances of getting into drexel?

Do you know if your application is complete?? Lots of people have been having trouble with that.

i called them today...the woman who answered the phone said I should be hearing in a couple of weeks...👍

i was told that a couple of weeks ago... still nothing...

Im still waiting for them to cash my check. Ive been having issues with my application as well. I did not apply to the MSP program, I applied to the Evening program. But its the same people, and I was hoping maybe you guys had some better results, but it dosent look like it...

So my app for the evening post bac has been complete since Feb. I called last week (after weeks of calling and emailing) and finally got someone who told me that my file was in the draw and never sent to the committee! wtf...okay. She told me it would be about a week to hear back. So i called today and was told that my application was on hold and that the reviewer(aparently she is the only one..."Laura") will be out for the rest of the week and I should call her on monday!

I'm so over it all right now!🙁

OK ...that scares me!!! :scared:

Have you interviewed yet?

So, I called to see if my application was recieved, and they told me that my app is incomplete (no transcript from my university). the never sent me an email, letter, or phone call to let me know. they said they recieved my app feb 13 and it hasnt been revied because its incomplete. the real lack of organization really scares me about this program. i'm starting to think MW might be a better choice..

hey everyone im new to the post. i too am awaiting an interview at drexel...i think i initially applied to IMS but after hearing that they usually take MCAT scores 27+, i called to tell them I was willing to be considered for MSP as well (9B,8V,6PS=23R). arghhh why are they taking so long and has anyone gotten in yet officially?

OK ...that scares me!!! :scared:

No...I haven't interviewd yet. Is being on hold a good or bad thing? But I don't hear from them unless I call (and someone actually picks up). This is really frustrating. Once I sent any email and received a response exactly 1 month and 3 days laster ( feb-march)
I'm tired of ppl asking me what I am doing this fall and not being able to give an answer.

hmmmmmmmmm....I'll think positively though 😳

yes it took an entire month to get an email reply for me too! whats up with that. i hope we all get in.. =)

It seems as though they have a lot applications and are short staffed. My friend who is now a resident at John's Hopkins said that when he applied for IMS, he did not know until July. It was worth it for him.

My other friend who got into MSP last year said that she did not hear until July. She decided not to go there because of their unorganized administration.

I am sure we'll hear something in a few weeks.

being hopeful:luck: :luck: :luck:

July! Yikes....:scared:
I hope it is not that long. If they dont' start giving out acceptances until that late than they shouldn't tell people that it is a rolling admissions process 🙁

Yea so I got another rejection letter in the mail today. It was from Drexel. On hold my ass!

Why did the letter say I was rejected for fall 2006? Incompetent S.O.B's....ok I'm done venting.

Moving on...I hope everyone else gets in.🙂

Oh no!!! What program was it for, CuriousStar?? When was ur application complete?

Evening post bac....yes...my application was complete from February.

Hey future DPMSers. I have been so excited abt this program its ridiculous. I applied early DECEMBER. I didnt hear back that my app was complete till Feb/March. Just when I was going to give up hope I got an email requesting an interviewm, which will take place next week Wedn. (the 25th). Depite the delay I'm still excited. I'll try to give as much feedback as possible abt the entire interview and all that jazz.

Hope to see u guys in philly this june!😛

I lit a candle for us.........
