Drexel pre interview hold???

So I logged in to check my status at Drexel and I found this message

Thank you for your application. Your file has been reviewed and will be re-evaluated later in the season for a final decision.

Is this like penn state's "under continual review?"

I have the feeling this is like the kiss of death here...anyone else get this or have comments? 🙄

Last item that was received was on August 30th.

Weird thing is they say they got my MCAT on october of 2006??? I applied the prior cycle but never finished the secondaries because I didn't have enough LORs to get a committee letter...i guess they held it in the system.

So is this status good news or bad news?

I have a feeling it means "we're gonna spend time on people with higher stats and then maybe maaaaaaaaaybe if we don't like them we might, in our infinite benevolence, bestow an interview on you (and then reject you).

Take a look at the pre-interview hold thread. There are others with this message too... unfortunately it's supposedly a hold of death though.

i got the same thing. weird part is, i've gotten interviews at places that have supposedly higher average stats...so i don't really know any more...

Why does everyone think it's ONLY about stats? It's not. Tons and tons of people get turned away from each school who have stats at or above the school's medians. There just isn't enough room to accept or interview everyone with a 3.6/31 or better as well some of the others with interesting experiences.

the only preinterview thread i saw didn't have much info on the "holds" themselves...link?

evidence for it being a hold of death?

is it kind of a good thing that they just didn't send me a rejection or is that they only put me on hold because they haven't formally started rejecting people yet?

No they are not. I was complete in mid september and interviewed November 7th. They told us that they review your file a number of times and come to a decision later. So if they initially review your file at a committee meeting and don't offer you an invite; they may decide to compare your files to those of other applications in subsequent committee meetings, unless they initially decide to waitlist your application.

After you became complete initially, how long did it take for any status message to be displayed on your status page? It says that all of my materials have been received and my application is complete, but besides that it's completely blank. I was just wondering if the blank screen, besides the complete status, was normal and when I could expect an update?

i'll say something, i interviewed a while ago and they said they're on track to break the record for applicants, looking at 13k this year. They had 12k last year, and they overaccepted and had to offer students a deferal, and i don't think anyone got off the waitlist from last year. Drexel looks a lot at the whole applicant, obviously that doesn't mean they want crappy students, but they want students that fit into drexel (as I was told by students there) and are enthusiastic about drexel. Good luck, it's my top school, i loved the interview.

It won't change until you are offered an interview.

If you do get an interview, it will change to "schedule a interview" for about six or so hours before you get an email notification.
