booyah.

The Drexel secondary has arrived. It is indeed easy. They want to you list your extracurriculars, pay them and reassure them that, no, you are not a felon.

I'm a bit surprised I'm the first to post, but I thought people would like to know it's now available.

was it an e-mail?

yes. Inquiring minds would like to know...

drexel pre-screen, am i right???

Drexel does not screen. Everyone receives a secondary 🙂

Taken from their website:
4. I?ve applied through AMCAS. When will I receive my secondary application?
As soon as we receive your verified application from AMCAS, we will send you the secondary application. All applicants receive a secondary. Please contact us if you feel that your secondary application has not reached you in a timely manner.

nope. It was a snail mail. I also live right outside Philly, so maybe the postal service got mine to me unusually quickly.

And Drexel definately does NOT screen.

do banks charge for issuing a certified check or a money order? I don't understand why drexel has to be such a pain in the butt.... who on earth would pay a med school application fee with a check that will bounce??

If you get in, you have to pay your deposit the same way 😉

It's a pain, but it's not that big of a deal. Any currency exchange will do it for around a 1% fee.

Received yesterday, takes 5 minutes, I live in Long Island, NY.

EDIT:
OMG....I just read the post about no checks. Thank god, I was just about to mail. Whew.

I got one from the post office and they only charged me an extra 90 cents.

oh, and just so everyone knows, you need extra postage for the "oversized" envelope that drexel sent us. since I was getting my MO from the post office, I gave her the envelope too and she told me I needed 49 cents for postage. otherwise I wouldn't have known, so just wanted to make sure everyone else knows too!

Me too. it was mailed on 8/16 received in Houston, TX 8/19.

for the drexel secondary, they say MCAT scores prior to April 1, 2002 will not be considered. does anyone know whether we should bother to list scores prior to that date anyways (if we took it once before that date)? or just leave them out? i'll call tomorrow and check, but just wanted to see if anyone already knew the answer. thanks!

I got it in the mail today too, but I was also just verified today too, which means they sent it with bio info from AMCAS only. Just a heads up to people who have just submitted AMCAS.

Thank you so much...I definitely would have sent it off with just one stamp before!

yeah thanks a lot! i had mine ready to go with only one stamp

no prob! 😎

I got one in the mail several days ago-I live in Michigan.
I don't have a letter ready from a non-science professor. Ugh! 😱

Ok so I'm a complete idiot. I was filling out the drexel secondary out last nite, and instead of just writing my middle initial, i wrote my middle name. do you guys think its ok? I'm planning on sending the 2ndary out today, and I didnt want to use white out on it because its a blue background and looks really bad then.

Yeah, just leave it as is... it isn't that big of a deal. If you white it out, it will draw attention to it and make it look worse.

Is anyone typing their Drexel secondary? Or is everyone just writing on it with black/blue ink? My mom has a typewriter at her office...but I've never used one before 🙂 What's the standard procedure?

I just hand wrote it...and I know I am not the only one. I don't think it matters what you do as long as it is neat. And if you don't want to bust out the typerwriter, check out one of the other Drexel threads... someone posted how to computer print on your applciation.. it was kind of cool actually.

For anyone who accidentally mailed them a check instead of a money order or certified check (like...um, me 😳 !), I called them up and the lady was really nice about it. She said that it's okay if you send a check, but that it would take slightly longer (three days versus one day) to process the application. That definitely eased my nerves a bit! 🙂

I'm amazed that Drexel wants to claim what a technologically-innovative school it is, yet can't even use a web form a simple editable pdf for the secondary application.

Rec'd the secondary today in Texas. Looks simple enough.
I am JUST getting mine today here 😡

I made a mistake that will require white out. I wonder if they'll throw out my app just because of that! 😀

why is drexel's secondary such as pain in the BUTT!!!!

i'm getting very annoyed with them

how are we supposed to list the name of the school we went to, city, and state all in a 2 inch space??

what's up with the old-school paper application?

I agree. Does anyone else have to get a letter of recommendation from a non-science professor for this school alone besides me? I'm so over it!

Does it matter if we print out the information on the secondary application, or would they rather prefer it to be typed out on a typewriter? I just wouldn't think writing it out would make any difference in their decision.

i resubmitted my AMCAS a few days ago to include drexel as one of my designated schools. does AMCAS send my info to drexel now? how long should i wait before for a secondary?

i can't believe they're making us use a typewriter. you're telling me there's absolutely nobody at that school who can sit down and create a freaking online form. Geeeez!!

haha i know. it's completely insane. drexel's the only school (out of the 23 that i got secondaries from) that doesn't have an online form for us to access! :scared: it reminds me of the time when i applied for college! apparently, things haven't changed very much for them over the 4 yrs.
