Hey,
I don't post much on the SDN forums, but I do frequent the forums often. I know most people hate these kinds of threads but I really need some advice. I just got accepted to Drexel (interviewed in March). I liked the campus and facilities more at Drexel, but I liked Wake Forest also. Wake is ranked in a couple different categories by US News, but we all know how accurate and useful those rankings are. I'm more of a big city type of person so I would like to be in Philly over Winston-Salem, but I don't know if that should be a major factor in my decision. Any advice/ help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks so much.

if i had the choice i'd probably choose drexel because of philadelphia, because you said you liked it better, and i don't think there's a huge difference in terms of school prestige.

congratulations on your acceptances.

I think most people on here would lean towards wake in a heartbeat. I think it should be a personal choice and going to one over another will not automatically give you any advantage in terms of residency. Here are pros and cons of both schools that I thought when I interviewed:

Pros
wake: better reputation, rankings, research, cheaper tuition, free laptop/pda, nicely integrated PBL with trad. curriculum, students seem happy, cheaper cost of living in winston salem, nice weather in NC, good matchlist, better reputation of hospital

drexel: nicer campus, technology integrated, options of choosing curriculum, philly bigger city, students happy

Cons
Wake: didn't like campus/building, didn't like winston salem very much

drexel: school's reputation was a little shaky when I interviewed w/ MCP and all but I think that's resolved, didn't liek the idea of moving around in 3rd year for rotations, hospital not across the street, school in kinda bad part of town, wasn't a big fan of philly, cold weather that I don't like

You might have different opinions and I would strongly urge you to go based on your own and not what someone else thinks about the schools.

Go to Drexel, Wake sucks! 😉

No way, I will vote for Wake, better reputation, Great Weather, And it will open more doors in my opinion.
