well, i've discovered what the hold up with my app is. my student interviewer never returned his evaluation 🙁. i wonder if i should e-mail him. is that rude? i'd imagine the admissions office is probably (hopefully!) already on his back about it.

lola, nothing for me so far. that sucks about the student interviewer, i mean, heLLLLLOOOO....??!! you think that anyone who went thru this freakin process would have some empathy for others and be on top of that shiznit!!

i can't believe i actually just wrote "shiznit".

back to my point: that is clearly the reason for the staggered acceptances/waitlists/rejections for people interviewed on the same day--the interviewers are pretty variable about when they turn in their evals. blech. come on people, think about US here. 😉

Congrats JM!!!!! At least someone got a nice letter. I just got the waitlist letter from Drexel....they want you to sign the form to accept the waitlist offer or decline it. Do they do this do make you feel special or something. This has been a rough wk for me Waitlisted at SLU on Tue and Drexel on Fri. What a week. Have to just change the address of my letter of intent to SLU for Drexel now. Goodluck lola and others.

To all those waiting on Drexel... I just got into NYMC and will be withdrawing my spot from drexel this week.

I really do like Drexel, but NYMC has a nice setup as well, and being in the NYC (at least for 2 years) is a priorty for me. Now if I can only get into a school in NYC....

I couldn't agree more, Sweet Tea! In a way, it is kind of like a slap in the face. It is kind of like saying " you are not good enough to be a doctor and have no hope of getting an acceptance anywhere else, so settle for this other program and leave us alone."

Now I have all sorts of questions. I want to apply to the PIL. I don't know where to live and I want to keep my insane cat. ANyone else who liked the PIL program?

I actually really liked the PIL program. I'm pretty sure if I were to go there, I would do PIL. The only thing I didn't like about it was that if you're in IFM, you can skip way more classes and have a lot more freedom.

I would think that the PIL would allow ou to be freer. guys, my spelling sucks today, i dont know what is up with all the typos, i think it might be the celebratory hangover. anyway. I missed the presentation though, because my interview was long and went right through it. i was reading about it though, and the small group concept mapping really appealed to me.

i was browsing for apartments and i dont really know what area it is in, guess i will have to get a map online. oh all the interesting questions.

drexel/the artist formerly known as MCP Hannehmann is located in a neighborhood called East Falls, which is ok i guess. A friend of mine who might be going to drexel this fall sent me this link over AIM. And, you can also check philadelphia weekly for apts as well.

Outside of East Falls, which is walking distance to drexel, if you have a car and dont mind maybe driving ~10-15 minutes to school, i'd check out manayunk as well. its a pretty fun area, a bunch of neat bars/clubs/coffee shops/restaurants along main street. And, also check around the art museum/ben franklin parkway area, which is about 15 minutes away, a bunch of grad students and such live in the area.

it is my understanding that a decision letter will be sent the monday following committee review. correct me if i'm wrong...

i haven't actually come under review yet, so i only know what someone told me over the phone when i called.

From my understanding when I was there, if you are in PIL, it is mandatory to come to class. IFM's dont have to.....many of the students I talked to who were IFM didnt even go to lecture, they just got the lecture video off their website. If you are in PIL, you can leave it after the first week if you dont like it, that's what I learned when I went to the extra PIL session.

to give him a bit of a break, i do know that today was the first day after spring break, so i guess it's possible that he hasn't returned yet or hasn't had a chance to catch up on all of his email. i suppose it is also possible that he turned it in and the admissions office lost it.
BUT STILL!! it's been a month and a half and they have no eval from him 🙁. boo hoo. and my interview with him went way better than the one with the faculty.

How hard is it to write an eval? I mean it's literally a page. What a dumbo. Hey lola, I figure that out of you, me, and jmwalker, there's a good chance of at least one of us going to drexel for sure--we can arrange to take him out, no prahblem.

jmwalker, where would you look for apartments? in east falls or center city? this is a bit of a moot point 'cause I haven't even been reviewed let alone accepted, but I thought center city would be cool for a nice apartment away from school.

hell, anything is better than this ridiculous rent i'm paying right now in SF.

I would definitely check out Manayunk, as DW suggested. I've never been there, but I read up on Philly while sitting bored in my hotel room 🙂 and it sounded like a cute little area outside the city and not too far from Drexel med. I definitely would not live in downtown Philly, but it might be a good option for some people.

mgw - I wanted to live really close to the school - not interested in commuting 😉 and i toss around ideas lik eyou wouldn't believe (i.e. i can't make up my mind)

jayzway - the commitee meets thurs - you can call fri to see if your file has been reviewed. they claim to mail on mon - buto one guys lette was mailed thur and mine was mailed wed.

just an update on my situation. it turns out i misread the e-mail from drexel's admissions office. i am SUCH an idiot. it said that my "blind reviewer" had not finished, not my "blind interviewer". i contacted my student interviewer (b/c i thought it said blind interviewer), and it turned out he'd turned in his form long ago, so he went to the admissions office, etc... UGH!! i can't believe i did that. oh well 😳. hopefully they'll get around to reviewing it pretty soon.
