I hope all of you plan on transferring to a US medical school to finish your training and go from there...UK is on par too. That way, when your patient sees your wall, they won't be starring at a degree from a school they can barely pronounce.

Patients care about the quality of the physician, not the name school.

If your self-esteem is so low that you use your school to determine your self-worth then I feel sorry for you.

To apply to a medical school outside of the US, with the exception of a few on-par foreign institutes, your self-esteem was already low to begin with; likely lower than those who were accepted into a US program - but not of one they would have preferred.

I would recommend doing post-bacc programs for those who don't have the scores or the resume to matriculate in the US.

self esteem is not measured by what school you go to or got into. if you measure self esteem that way then medicine is not for you- you are missing the bigger picture

Patients care about the quality and treatment they receive from the physician- not what a diploma says on a wall.

.

another point I forgot to mention is when you are practicing medicine, people(other docs, nurses, patients, even medical students that rotate) don't go around asking what school you went to- you are measured as a solid physician based on word of mouth and respect from your co-workers and patients.

Why even post with such a weak and flawed argument? Quite ametuerish, especially when parroting the issue of self-esteem without an understanding of the term.

I am quite disappointed, although I suspect that you tried your best. Some people just don't have what it takes.

if you think the name of your medical school is going to carry weight when practicing medicine u are in for a surprise....ppl dont give a crap about your medical school, they give a crap whether or not you can save their life or treat them

i personally have never even looked at the wall of my doctors...especially in the ER where there are no degrees posted on walls....

The OP is...interesting. Just read some of his previous posts! But honestly its his attitude that gives Docs a bad rep.

You know I stayed away but these kind of posts bother me, if this was really a problem the program director for Emory Pain clinic would not have been a grad from a Caribbean school and so for the numerous Chief residents that grad from the Caribbean.......................

This is yet another Pale attempt to Dis the Caribbean students, from someone listing themselves as a "Health Student" are you a premed or a Med student, if not your post means even less. 😡 ( reason I make this distinction is if you are not in this then you really do not have the experience to understand I have 19 years in Medicine as an RN before.)

This is hard enough without crap like this. 😎

Those who are in the Caribbean hold your head high since this is harder then a post bac and harder then a US school.

Congrats Caribbean students you will be Doctors!:meanie:

As for the OP why not just worry about yourself and leave us to our success!

LoL

Hold your horses, Doc. 😱

Hows your clinical rotations going, btw?

Great just finished Family rotation, the Doc liked me so much they gave me a card with a 100 in it for Christmas! I was shocked! I opened it at home so I did not know till then. ( Saved me from giving it back LOL)
