Drop a future C or hang in?

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
Would y'all drop Calculus 1, take the W, and try again in the Summer with an "easier" professor, or would y'all just take the C?

I am in a similar situation with physics. I still have 75% of the class left and failed the first exam, but after the curve it is a C (lol!)

I say stick it out and study your ****ing ass off. You might even be able to make a B in it. I'm going to redeem myself and get up to a B even if it kills me...I'm willing to risk getting a C or even failing, anything but dropping it. Don't feel like taking the cowards way out

if you didn't do well on the first calc I exam (limits?) i'd suggest taking the W because it's going to get a lot more challenging

That's really stupid, Alaska. If you fail, or even get a C, it will drop your GPA by about 0.2 points. NO ONE will give a crap that you have a W on your transcript - things happen, maybe you overslept, missed a midterm, and had to drop, or maybe the professor was a douche - no one will know.

The reality is that no one on the adcomms cares about our academic heroics.

0.2 point drop from a C? Wrong. it will go from 3.95 to 3.89...

W looks shady...There is still 75% points in the class left...I rather work my ass off and take a chance than be a quitter- no honor in that at all. I got myself into this mess and I'll get myself out

Also- in general chemistry freshman year I got 45% on the first test. Next 3 I got 100 and pulled an A in the class...I feel like if I can do that I can recover from this. Stress and fear make you stronger bro

Don't take a C especially in a math/science course. I'd drop and take a redo in the summer. It would probably be a good idea if you ask the teacher to let you audit/sit in on the class the rest of the semester and keep doing the work that way in the summer you will have it easier to make your A.

But what if...

-No summer classes available for the subject
-It is a class you will have not retaken by the time you apply
(show up as W to adcoms then you finish it your senior yr)

I apologize for my earlier posts...after further research it does seem that the general consensus is that W >> C. I apologize for my arrogance and ignorance in earlier posts

It's a choice between a sophomore year consisting of 8 courses and a 4.0, or a sophomore year consisting of 9 courses and a 3.73.
