I declared a management minor last year and have taken 3-4 MGMT classes for it. I did mention it on my primary and secondary applications as well. Problem is, I find it incredibly uninteresting and would rather finish my senior year taking classes where I enjoy the material.

(1) Would it be detrimental to my chances if I dropped the minor, and (2) would I need to let the schools I've applied to know?

Thanks 🙂

1) No, med schools don't care about your minor, and 2) you could send them an email but I don't think it would make a difference.

The only way medical schools will know you dropped or changed majors is when they get your transcript (if the school even records it). And that's after you've been accepted. They won't see it through AMCAS.

Are you sure you want to drop the management minor? You may find it to be useful in the future, including the management of your medical practice. How many more classes do you need? If it's just a couple, you may want to finish the minor.
