Hey guys,

So I am fortunate enough to have received an early A. One of my volunteer experiences is really conflicting with my school schedule and interview planning. I was wondering I could drop the activity for this semester even though I listed it as having future hours. By the time of my app I had 50 and I projected 25 (12.5 for one semester and 12.5 for the next, which I should be able to do). It would look dumb if I called my school to ask if that’s rescinded worthy right?

Did you distinguish completed vs projected hours on the application? What category is this activity tagged with (eg, Community Service/Volunteer-Not Medical/Clinical, Physician Shadowing, etc)? Do you have other completed hours in that category listed elsewhere on the primary application, and if so, how many?

Yes I did distinguish by having my future hours as a “repeated activity”. It is listed as non clinical volunteering which I had an additional 150 hours of by time of app.

I think you are fine to drop the activity for this term, then, and resume it next term when it fits better with your schedule. Your med school will not rescind your acceptance over a missing 12.5 hours considering your other 200 hours of completed nonmedical volunteering.
