So, I know it is bad, but I am going to drop my graduate biochem class. I'm a graduate non-degree student, and I was only taking the class for "fun" so that I felt more prepared for medical school. Long story short, I will be traveling a lot more for interviews than I had planned (which is a good thing!), and I have been working 40-50 hours a week. Both are causing me to miss a lot of classtime. Since I don't need the class, and I don't have time for it right now, I am taking a W. Do I need to update schools to tell them that I am doing this? I have interviews for KCOM, AZCOM, and CCOM in the next two weeks.

My biggest fear is that they will take back an interview invite or future acceptance because I have another W.

Just make sure none of the schools you're applying to require biochem. More and more schools *do* require it.

None of the schools that I sent secondaries to require biochem. If I finish secondaries to schools that do require it, I can take it in the spring when interviews are pretty much over with.
I see the value of taking biochem, I just want to give it "my all" and I cannot do that right now since I am missing so much class.

As long as your schools do not require biochem, you're fine. You will have to send them an updated transcript before you matriculate. Schools understand that anticipated courses aren't always the ones the applicant actually takes. As long as you fulfill the pre-reqs, it is fine. Best of luck on your interviews!

which schools require biochem?

which schools require biochem?

These two for sure require it, but I know there are others. I don't have my guidebook with me right now.

Kansas City

Do schools even care about your post-bac, non-degree classwork if you have already fulfilled the pre-reqs? My take is that the classes/grades are only important if you do well and want to show the schools your achievement. If you drop the classes or do poorly (get a C), will schools even care after making a decision about your application?
