Hi,

I am a non traditionl student. I am a foreign student. I enrolled in a statistics progam in 2003 only for the sake of being in status. I got my work visa soon after in 2003. I stopped taking classes in that program there after and also I got F's in the 2 courses that I had taken.

I am currently thinking of pursuing the premed program/ second bachelors. I would like to know how would dropping out of this grad program affect my candidacy? Is there anyone who has gone through this and got an admission into med school?

Thanks

Those Fs are going to show on your transcript and figure into your overall GPA. Any additional coursework that you do will be considered post bacc and will add to your undergraduate GPA.

If you were formally admitted to the statistics graduate program, you will show drop out and you will likely carry the liability of dropping out of a graduate program.

If you took the courses outside of a formal degree program, then they will show up as Fs in post bacc coursework. Again, you will have to list them on your transcript and you will likely have to explain these grades.

"I just took the courses to stay in status", is not going to be a good explaination of two Fs on transcript. You have loads of time to figure out a better one if you are doing another bachelor's degree. A better strategy would be to get those Fs changed to incompletes/withdrawals which carry less liability.

wow! Didnt know this would affect so much. Yes I took these courses as a grad student formally into the program. Since I took these in 2003 I dont think I can change them now to incomplete or withdrawn. Yes they do show up in my transcript and My grad GPA was 4.0 and with these 2 F's it came down to 3.56. I guess I have lot to answer for this reckless behaviour.

Thanks for the reply.
