Ok, so I'm a psychology major and as of now I'm on my way towards getting a zoology minor. But as I'm planning out my schedule it seems like my last year of undergrad is going to be really overloaded. Now, I'm debating whether or not to keep the minor.

I guess what I'm really asking is how dropping my minor would affect my acceptance into medical schools (especially because of my psychology major)?
I have already completed and submitted my medical apps, so if I decide to drop it could a medical school that has accepted me decide to not accept me?

Anybody have any opinions?

Isn't zoology like the study of animals? In my view medical schools won't care.

i doubt that it would really matter. also, i dont think a psych major puts you at a disadvantage at all if the rest of your app is competitive

good to know

i've kind of been hearing the same thing about minors, but i was a little worried about it being a psych major

No med school could care less if you drop your zoology minor before applying. My philosophy in undergrad was to pick a major, then with the time I had left over take classes I wanted to take (and those pesky pre-med classes). The fact that I accidentally ended up with two minors almost assuredly had little/no impact on the result of my application.

I think pre-meds put a little too much thought (read: any) into how much med schools will care about their major/minor. Study what you like. Anyone who does any major or minor just because s/he thinks it will impress med schools is a fool (I'm obviously not talking about you here, this is just a general observation).

After applying, it becomes more tricky. You really should let med schools know of any substantive changes. Even though I don't really think switching undergrad minor (heck, even major) is all that substantive, it's a good idea to let them know.
