I'm going to try and make a long story short so please let me know if you need more info in order to give decent advice. B.A. is in Accounting. Went back to school to take science pre-req's, got half way thru and kind of had a melt down. Dropped out mid-semester (was taking Organic I, Bio II, and Phys II). Went back a year or so later and picked up where I left off. Science GPA= 3.7 Overall= 3.6

Should I focus on just DO schools? Is there still a chance at an MD program? Or too soon to tell because I haven't taken the MCAT? Or have I completely done myself in by dropping and retaking too many classes (this is my real fear).

Thanks for any advice.

Honestly, you still have a chance. It's something you'll have to explain in your personal statement, but you're not toast, especially if your MCAT backs up your GPA (which is not bad). Just apply to a few extra schools in case you don't get a fair run at some.

Go ahead and shoot for MD, don't worry about DO until round 2 if it even comes to that.

Hey there~

If you take a look at some of the mdapplicant profiles for some of the helpful users here, you'll see that there are some with excellent scores and GPAs who are still waiting on acceptances and folks with less than stellar scores who find themselves in the nice position of having to choose between schools.

There's no magic formula to this, but remember that your scores are not all that count in the admissions process- other things count too, and it's really important not to forget the 'whole person' concept. You can be smart and have the personality of a corn flake, which won't necessarily help you gain admissions.

Don't forget that you'll never know 'til you try. Best of luck to you! :luck:
