What happens if we get caught for DUI after we get accepted or while attending dental, medical or any other professional school? Will they kick us out from the school or withdraw our acceptance?

Did this happen to you? Or do you plan on drinking and driving in the near future? If so...Don't. Are you still a provisional admit? If so, your acceptance would be in jeapordy. If you already have final admission then I doubt they would kick you out as they probably wouldn't find out about it until later in the school year anyway and don't want to lose your tuition.

Yes, you could be kicked out of school. Check the contracts you sign for the school. Many will have clauses about professional behavior both on and off campus. A DUI is a violation of such behavior.

Even if the school doesn't boot you. They issue of getting licensure with a recent DUI is always a factor. Basically, good luck if it happened. If it didn't, don't blow all the hard work and ruin your life, and possibly the lives of other people you might kill while driving under the influence, by being a complete idiot.

haha no. I was just too bored at work... but have you guys ever heard of anyone get kicked out cuz of DUI? I saw on a newpaper few years ago that this dentist graduated from usc killed himself on the freeway. He got too drunk and was driving in the oppsite side of the road.

my parents are good friends with a dentist.. he NEVER drinks and drives because if he were to get a DUI he would lose his license.

I know a dentist that recently got a DUI, and he had to attend some substance abuse seminars and promise to uphold himself as a professional before the state board would reinstate him.

DUI's are bad period. You don't need them on your record regardless of its standing on your dental licensure. It won't kill your career the first time you do it, but it carves a major rut in your life plans in the short term. Just get a cab if you have plans on the town.

a DUI is something that almost shapes your life.. it is so much stress and so much trouble.. a LOT of money that simply goes to the state... no driving and possible jail time, it is absolutely nothing to mess with.. When i was in high school i got 3 drinking charges (non-driving) and that alone really just messes with your head.
