This is a long story however I'll try to keep things concise. I was accepted to physical therapy school, however shortly before I started I was charged with a DUI and the case is currently ongoing. My school told me that my acceptance was being deferred to a future term until the case is "satisfactorily resolved". When I asked what this meant, they told me that they are unable to comment beyond that (which was disheartening to hear).
I know their concerns are clinical placements and I understand that. There are several ways for me to fight this charge and several outcomes that can occur, however I do not know which outcome to pursue now that my school has not helped me with any clarity regarding the situation. One outcome is to pursue court supervision which would basically be telling me to follow specific rules for a set period of time and if I do, the court will dismiss the case with no judgement (which results in no misdemeanor conviction) Has anyone been through anything similar to this situation or have any advice for me? I know this situation is very legal oriented and many may not have a good grasp of how to deal with it. I do have a lawyer helping me out on that end.
Words don't do justice the way I feel about this situation in regards to the DUI, I know it was dumb to say the least.
