Still nothing at my family's house in Dallas. If it made it to Ohio and Tenessee, it seems like it should have made it to big D by now, so I guess I'm looking at a rejection or waitlist. I feel sick....
Don't give up hope yet....Texas is a lot farther away from NC than Tennessee or Ohio. I would at least wait until tomorrow, and maybe even Monday before thinking that.

Got the Duke acceptance in Dayton, OH today (3/3/06 mail)! W00t! Good luck to everyone else!

Out of curiosity, did anyone get information on merit-based scholarships in their letters? I don't know if Duke awards them at acceptance or if there's a separate process. I doubt I'd be in the running for one, but I'd like to know.

Peace.

Congrats. That's not good news for me in Columbus though.

Also, it's not just about distance. If your letter ends up in a big post office, it could get stuck for an extra day during the sorting process. Don't give up hope unless you get that little letter in the mail...Rejections apparently only went out a day later than acceptances, and this time difference is well within USPS variability, so we can't really base our status on the time of delivery. My $.2

Ok I'm a loser, but I've attached a map with red dots on the states that have received letters so far. I had to make it really small b/c the file was big, so I hope you can see it (and get some kind of idea how the mail is traveling!). I hope that this doesn't deter anyone from wanting to be my classmate next year.

i wonder how long it will take to nj.

I don't know how accurate this is, but if you go to USPS.com and go through the postage calculation process, it will tell you how many days it takes to get an envelope from any zipcode to your own via first class mail.

The estimates seem to go along well with who has gotten acceptances. ie North Carolina takes one day, Ohio takes two days, California and New Jersey three days...

I think it's D-Day for a lot of us. :luck: :luck: :luck: to all.

My mailman is going to think I'm crazy...stalking him two days in a row like this. I did the postage calculator and it said 3 days for MO, so I should get something today. We'll see.

I mean it was sent First class mail (3 stamps), so it should be everywhere in 3 days.

Was everything sent first class or just acceptances?

I'm in Indianapolis... the letter is in a large manila envelope, 3 stamps, postmarked March 1st.

I'm in southwest VA, and I haven't gotten anything yet...I guess I'm hoping for a waitlist at this point...

Nothing in Columbus. Looks like bad news on Monday. 🙁

Anyone hear in California or anywhere on the West Coast today? MY mail doesn't get here for like 4 more hours..

Anyone hear from the Northeast? NY/CT/Boston?

I'm in CT and didn't get anything. Guess I'm joining the "hoping for the waitlist" crew.

No news in Boston, but I think it just might take longer. It took 4 business days to get my waitlist from Pritzger last week, so I'm still optimistic about Duke.

CONGRATULATIONS FUTURE DUKIES!!! I am a first year here and I went thru this process last year so i know where you guys are at! Congrats again to those who got in..and also to the waitlist folks.. important important.. a LOT of my classmates got in off the wait list. it's impt to update your file with things like recent accomplishments, add'l letters of recommendation, letter of interest, etc. I would probably wait to send this stuff in until about May-ish when the AdComm gets a better idea of who's coming for sure, etc. But stay on top of it..

for those getting the slim envelopes.. 😡 shame on duke for not admitting u but it's not the end of the world.. i am a 2nd time applicant and so i went thru a range of emotions after not meeting with success the first time i applied. if you get in somewhere else, good luck with everything! if not, apply again and have hope.. be strong through it all no matter how your cards fell!!

All incoming Dukies..don't hesitate to PM me or to start a d Duke 2010 thread with questions, comments, concerns, about Duke.. lol..i started the Duke 2009 thread last year...good luck everyone and see some of ya'll at Second Look!!

🙂 Cheers, 🙂

yay! i got into duke as well! congratulations to all you guys. and if you're on the waitlist, i hear duke has a very active waitlist (since no one wants to end up in durham). i'm in nc resident, so i think that also helps me.

Thabnks for the fuzzy message. Do you know, from past experience, if waitlists/rejections are deliberately sent on a different day (2nd instead of the 2st)? Also, are rejections/waitlists and acceptances sent via different types of mail? (I know the acceptances are first-class with three stamps, and it seems like people get them quicker)

In anticipation of the Oscars, I'd like to make my acceptance speech. First, I need to thank my parents who have supported me through all of this craziness. Second, I'd like to thank...oh I can't think right now. Thank you to everyone who ever supported me. I'm so happy (single tear)!!!!!!

The acceptances on MD applicants so far:
11 men, 3 women
Average MCAT of 38.6 with the lowest score being a 36...
😱 :scared: :scared: 😱

Exactly why I'm not counting on that acceptance letter showing up "late" 😳

Waitlist today in Cary, NC

Give me your CCLCM or your Duke acceptance

Well at least you know he has to drop one! I wish we could give away our acceptances.... I would pay good money for a Duke acceptance... Maybe I should make the Dean an offer...

Sorry... What I was getting at was that I didn't think my 35 looked like it was going to be bringing me anything good...

If your 35 isn't bringing you something good, then my 33 doesn't stand a chance.

I've read your profile- you have a lot of cool extracurricular activities. Don't worry about it...

If you're 33 doesn't stand a chance, then my 28 is doing me up the butt.

Why did they even interview me.

Still no word in MN

If they interviewed you, it means they don't give a **** about your 28! :luck:

I had the same thoughts when my mailbox was empty yesterday, and everyone on SDN who boasted acceptances seemed to have MCATs of 38+. What was the point in interviewing me? Boo! I know I haven't been rejected yet, but I've definitely lost a huge chunk of any confidence I had last week. Good luck to you! Someone has to bring those 38+ scores down to Duke's 35-36 average...might as well be us. :luck:
