Your probably right. However, Duke could control when you receive the invite... At this point, it doesn't matter to me😀

Where are you located? Anyone in the northeast got it yet?
 
I'm not feeling super confident about getting in, so I just decided to have my decision sent to my house rather than my parents' house (it has kind of been my permanent address thing). So I called the admissions office to see if it is too late to change my address, and the lady said "Go ahead and change it."

I'm taking bets on whether that's a good thing or a bad thing...

Also, this probably isn't true because I know a lot of my friends who were stellar candidates but did not do the Duke app bc it was too long were invited AFTER the deadline to submit a secondary. so actually, many of those later interviewees are probably pretty good too.

I think that means nothing and is just their snowballing to prevent info from getting out. Hang in there.

after the jan 2 deadline? or after the original deadline?

anyone from CA? I am away from home for an interview tomorrow, and I can't calm down because I am gettign so nervous/excited about Duke!

Michigander here, just got an acceptance letter today. Didn't send a letter of interest. Actually sent a letter of "disinterest" to the dean post interview...

This is a joke, right? you sent a letter of disinterest and they still took you? God ,. Duke admissions guys must be freaking idiots.

Not really disinterest, just some probing questions from an unsatisfactory (almost offensive) interview day. I'd reather not get into details on the boards, but it was strong enough that I assumed I was going to be black-balled. I have to ask though, was I the only one that thought the frisbees came off as a little pompous?

This makes me wonder if they ever read those stuff. I sent them a LoI, doubt if it's going to work though. Now I wish I sent them a letter of disinterest as well :laugh:

Nothing yet in California. Haha -- the anticipation's keeping me from studying for a midterm I have tomorrow. 🙄 Must... focus....
 
My mail still hasn't come today... WTF is going on with the mailman?!?!?!?!?! This is really annoying. Plus I'm in TX so I'll prolly have to wait till tomorrow anyway. I can't study for my biochem test until I get a letter of some sort. Freakin A!!!

Humble... no slings, no arrows, and I don't really even remember how we grew to dislike eachother in the first place.
 
hey all-

ive always been reading SDN, but never posted before. i was accepted to duke today. mail went to richmond, va. i figured id post because the letter went to my permanent address rather than my preferred address at school. so make sure people are checking the mail at your permanent address. my mom said she almost missed the letter cause its looks like a regular letter in a big envelope....
 
Hmm, I live in Durham and had no Duke mail today. I hope they didn't send anything to my house in CA!

Are they sending out waitlists at the same time as acceptances, or is no news gradually going to morph into bad news (for most of us) one empty-mailbox-day at a time?

That is what I'm thinking. I think acceptances were sent priority and waitlists/rejections were sent first class or whatever the slowest one is. ****!

is everyone's login status the following?:

"Your application is complete and is awaiting a final decision from the Committee on Admissions."
 
I'm too lazy to look back, but didn't somebody say that everything was sent first class (not priority?)

BTW, did we ever decide if they sent letters alphabetically or interview-chronologically? Maybe if those accepted posted their date (within a few days) and the first letter of their last name.....then we could feel like we were doing more than agonizing.
 
Another north-carolinian/triangle area here with an empty mailbox 🙁 ... i am going to start assuming rejection/waitlist and if not then I will be pleasantly surprised..was there ever any reliable word on the whole priority vs. regular mail for acceptances/waitlists/rejections? I notice that there have not been any posts from people saying they received a rejection or waitlist soo that's not great news...oh well, another restless night.
 
There's a picture of an acceptance letter earlier in the thread, and it appears to be regular (first class?) mail.

nothing came today in Boston. USPS says that regular mail takes 4 days to get here...
