Yea, Guitar Hero is the best thing ever. I had to buy a PS2 and both games to get 2 guitars to play... Sad sad sad, but definetly 5 star.

So, I opened the mailbox and it contained a normal sized envelope holding within it a rejection letter dated March 6 and postmarked the 8th. It was sent first class mail. This officially ends my season with 3 interviews ending in 2 waitlists and one rejection. 🙁 No hope for me...
 
And so it begins...

or .....and so it continues....this time with a harsher reality that post-interview rejections will happen.

With these two waitlists, you still have hope, why dont you update and write LOIs. Dont give up!

i feel for you, man...i'm a reapplicant after being stranded on a Vandy waitlist in 2005...keep some hope out for those waitlists, and in the meantime formulate a reapp battle plan. hope you never have to use it!

I think the reality of this situation just hit me. Sorry kidthor and calltech. Kid, from talkin to you, I know you have extremely bright things on the horizon so don't get your hopes up. It will all work out for you.
 
Just got waitlisted in Durham. To be honest, I didn't expect to make it this far, so I'm pretty happy. Good luck to everyone else waiting!
 
Not to give too much away at this point, but if you don't have your phones on, or if they're silenced, now would be a good time to turn them on.

Woah, that's weird....because I just got a call from a 919 number and I didn't know the area code and also I was in a meeting and had my phone on vibrate so I didn't answer it. But I am curious as to what it was....so you probably should just tell me because they didn't leave me a message.
 
Oh my gosh... Page.... what does that mean? If we don't get a call does it mean we're out of luck? Are they calling everyone?

Man, this waiting game is not longer fun! No love today here in Cali. Now, not only am I staring at my mailbox and computer screen, I'm also staring at my bloody phone! Dang. 😡
 
Man, so I was tired of this melodramatic "woe is me" **** that I'm subjecting myself to as I await Duke's final decision. So I decided to chill. I turned on the TV and WHAM: "A new study found by Duke University shows that obesity...blah blah blah..." so I laugh thinking, "Dang, why not rub Duke all over my face, right?" So I go to my computer and decide to just catch up on current events on a local news group's page and WHAM: A discussion on race relations regarding Duke University's "Lacrosse" incident. Dang! And I kid you not, just as I finish smirking with disbelief WHAM: I get an email sent to a general list-serve I belong to: "4th Annual Summer Institute-- Riding the Currents: Families, Mental Health, and Economic Change"

agonizing, scary, tumultous experience... I want to sleep until someones wakes me up with a letter...

Did anyone who got accepted had a regional interview?

I'll do it for her because I know she disappeared after essentially freaking you all out. Many of the accepted applicants received phone calls today. I have no idea if ALL accepted applicants were called, but I know many were. Congrats to everyone who's heard good news so far, and best of luck to those still waiting on Duke and/or on other schools.

Peeps at my cell phone and nope, no 919 area code. I'll just write Duke off then. Good thing is I can't attend Duke anyways ($_$) even if I got accepted.

why would they call when they said they wouldn't and pretty strongly too?

Well, technically, the decisions have already been mailed out. The phone calls are from DukeMed students who basically ask, "Have you gotten your acceptance packet yet? Do you have any questions for me?" etc. So the AdComm is not really giving you decisions over the phone; the students just following up on those decisions over the phone... you can make whatever inferences are necessary. 😀

Honestly, I wouldn't be overly concerned if you didn't get a phone call today. Some people were apparently called yesterday, some got called today... Maybe that means some will get called tomorrow? I assume that there are only so many students making calls, and there are only so many people they can call on a given evening.

OK well... now that I have read all of this stuff above. I guess I am either waitlisted or rejected. I mean, we all must be if we haven't heard anything at this point right. That sucks bad. Well, I don't know what else to say. I'm feeling rather sad. It may be cuz I'm drunk 😀
 
I just got in! I didn't get a letter or anything, just an email talking about second look weekend. No phone call either...

Keep up the hope females, no email or letter for me and I still got it
 
So it turns out I am in, as you all speculated with the phone call. The package was waiting for me when I got home from work...and someone posted earlier to know if anyone got in with a regional interview. I did, and therefore, I haven't looked into the school super in-depth yet. I probably should go to the Second Look Weekend even though I have no money for a plane ticket...we'll see.

Would duke give you money for the plane ticket? Some schools give money for 2nd look...is duke one of them

I bet this is a big ego boost for duke. That we can agonize about the school for 1000 posts.
