Hey everyone,
I'm a junior in college and I'm thinking about a variety of healthcare careers...medicine, dentistry, pharmacy, etc. I'd like to work in a pharmacy this summer to see what it's like but I live in a different city in the summer than the school year so I would only be able to commit to work for 12-13 weeks during the summer. I'm thinking that nobody would want to hire me for such a short period of time. Has anyone been hired to work only during the summer? Any suggestions as to what type of facility I should target (ie drugstores, walmart, etc)? Obviously I should contact the pharmacies directly to see what they say but I'd appreciate any advice.

Thanks,
Luke

i work 4-8 hours a week in a retail pharmacy (one of the smaller chains in california - only about 8 stores), so the hours are definitely possible, but i'm not sure of the duration since i've worked there for almost a year now...

look for a place that has stores where you will live in the fall.. (i.e. cvs, walgreens, walmart...)
you could then "transfer" back to whereever you are living after the summer is over. You can also request to only work 1-2 days a month or to be called whenever people are desparate
