Hi!! First time OOS applicant! Good luck !Hi everyone! I didn't see a thread for dual DVM-PhD programs this year, so I decided to start one.
Hi! I also just got the invitation and am planning to go! Very excited! Congrats -- hoping for the best for both of us!! 🙂Just got invited to interview for NCSU’s dual degree program…yeah!!! Is anyone else planning on going?
Were interview invites for Penn sent out around this week/next week last year?Congrats as well! I heard back from Penn around mid-December last year. Cornell’s dual degree is contingent on a DVM acceptance so I assume it would be early January
Thanks! Was that for VMD admissions for the PhD program? For Penn, I got a notification on 12/28 (and then another on 2/23). I vaguely remember reading last year that they don't do interviews, but that may have changed.
Thanks! Was that for VMD admissions for the PhD program?
Is it possible to be invited for an interview for the VMD-PhD program but not for the VMD program (admission into graduate school for just the PhD rather than the dual degree)? It was for the VMD-PhD program. The VMD program sends invites starting January and they continue sending invites until February
I believe that for UPenn specifically, you have to apply separately if you're interested in being accepted to a PhD-only program. I think that the deadline to apply for their Biomedical Graduate Studies group has already passed for this cycle, though. Is it possible to be invited for an interview for the VMD-PhD program but not for the VMD program (admission into graduate school for just the PhD rather than the dual degree)?
I've spoken to the Dean of that dual degree program and he told me that if you don't get accepted to VMD program, you don't get invited to the dual degree option. If you're looking to be considered separately, you must apply separately. I don't remember when is the deadline for the PhD degree thoIs it possible to be invited for an interview for the VMD-PhD program but not for the VMD program (admission into graduate school for just the PhD rather than the dual degree)?
I'm confused as to why doesn't UW Madison require additional LOR for the dual degree as do other schools. I mean, good for us but yet idk if that affects in some wayAlso applied to Wisconsin btw!
I have not. I need to know in order to structure my whole life mannnn I hope they come in any day nowHas anyone heard anything yet?
I think it’s really dependent on the school. What programs are you interviewing with? How are you guys preparing for the interview or how would you prepare for the interview (since some schools didn't send out their invites yet)? Are we supposed to prepare like interviews for just DVM? Or more about the grad school? Or maybe both?

FOR REAL like what am I supposed to write differently. Is it just me or does anyone else have some degree of overlap between your Wisconsin dual degree essays? Like I can’t talk about my motivation without talking about research experiences/career goals and vice versa. [emoji28]
This is what the Penn thread said:" I don't think we should expect to hear in December, I remember the email they sent out a while back saying interview invites would be sent out in mid January this year and nothing before then"Has anyone heard from Penn yet?
Should I email DVMadmissions or just take this as a rejection?I haven’t gotten an invite for an interview from
NCSU 🙁 does that mean my chances are out the door?
That’s reassuring, thank you. I am so glad that they have sent out at least a few invites (to y’all no less!). I just want some sort of answer—rejection or acceptance. They told me that they're still deciding how many people to invite when I asked about the schedule so it’s possible they're not done sending invites. It’s also depends on the budget bc one of their blogs said they get thirty five applicants each year. Paying for everyone’s travel expenses is a lot
Any updates?
Nope, not yet!Any updates?
