Hello,
This is my first post so bear with me.
I REALLY want to get into PCO. Here's my GPA so far
first semester: 3.7 (15 credits)
Second semester: 3.65 (17 credits)
Third semester: 3.2 (16 credits)
this semester: also looking like its going to be a 3.2 (17 credits)
Core Classes:
Organic Chemistry I and II with lab
Microbiology with lab
Genetics
General Chemistry I and II with lab
Quantitative Biological Methods with lab
Calculus I
Cumulative without this semester is a 3.51.
Science GPA is probably somewhere around a 3.2 I'm guessing
I am EXTREMELY concerned about getting two 3.2 GPA's
I go to the University of Central Florida but I am transferring to Rutgers in the Fall
Other stuff:
-I am in the Honors College
-I am in an advanced math program called EXCEL
-I am in a leadership/service learning program called LEAD
-I am a mentor for GEMS (Girls Excelling in Mathematics and Science)
-I am in the Pre-Professional Medical Society and held a Director position last year
-I volunteered 22 hours at the hospital this semester, and will do more over the summer
-I often volunteer in programs that work with children and underprivileged schools in the Central Florida area, such as Junior Achievement, Achieving a College Education, and others
-I have worked as a receptionist in a Chiropractic Office for 2 years (no optometry jobs available in my town =[)
-I have 2 different optometrists lined up to shadow this summer
I know its hard to judge without an OAT, but I am so worried about my 3.2 GPA for two semesters in a row.
The first semester I can sort of explain (Four friends of mine from high school died in unrelated accidents during the semester, and my dog died too. it all really took a toll on me)
This semester I dont reallly have an excuse. overloaded myself but I can't tell them that!
Sorry this is so long, but I've never really gotten any good idea of if I am on the right track, and I am tired of constantly stressing!
