e-mail thank you notes

has anyone else been sending out thank-you notes over e-mail?

i wasn't sure if it was proper etiquette, but it seemed like a pretty reasonable thing to do.

Members don't see this ad.
 
I wouldn't e-mail thank you notes unless that's the only thanks you will ever get out to interviewers. Believe it or not, there are more than a few attendings who never read their e-mail and would not see your note. Even if they do, they'll delete it so it doesn't clutter up their inbox. At best you'll get a "My pleasure" response.

I know more than a couple of attendings who keep the thank you cards they receive each year and refer to them when ranking meetings come around. Some even pin them up on their bulletin boards...
 
I agree. E-mail is just a little too informal. Although I wouldn't necessarily advocate buying cards or stationery, I think a nice "business" letter would be preferable.
