A friend told me to prioritize schools that accept the earliest when doing secondaries and scheduling interviews so as to relieve the stress of not knowing if I was admitted anywhere. Unfortunately, he wasn't very specific. Which schools, in your experience, give out acceptances the earliest?

Thanks!

many rolling schools will give out acceptances around oct. 15th ish at the earliest. there is a rule set by the AAMC that prevents schools from getting back to you with an acceptance before that (unless you apply EDP).

so, check out any rolling schools that sound like a good fit for you and get your secondary apps in by end of july. then you'll be set to start interviewing in august/september and hearing back in october.

come to think of it, most schools are rolling i think (?). i can only think of a handful that are truly non-rolling and don't get back to their applicants until march (harvard, yale, upenn, duke...). but yeah the school i heard back from the fastest was my state school

:ninja:

Michigan (starts notifying people on midnight Oct 15th) and Ohio State (Oct 15th/16th) are two schools that notify people very early in the process.

You could also check the earliest posts in the acceptance thread in the school-specific forum for more schools

Check the MSAR, it tells you when each school begins notifications and whether they are rolling.

Doesn't UVA notify really early? I remember perusing MDApps a little after Oct 15th and there were a bunch of new UVA acceptances.

Don't prioritize. Seriously, just search SDN for secondaries for the schools you know you're applying to and start working on the answers now (i.e. throughout the Spring semester). This way, by the time secondaries are released, it'll take you a matter of minutes to submit each, thus eliminating a need to prioritize...unless money is an issue, then yes, prioritize.

From experience:

Wake Forest
EVMS

i interviewed at both before Oct 15th and found out results before or ON oct 15th.

With so many threads recently posted bashing exactly this kind of topic... it's amazing to see the "nice SDNers" coming out and helping mere mortals 😉 you guys rock.
