Hi everyone. I looked around for this on the internet as well as these forums but couldn't find an answer. When is it that sending your applications isn't considered early enough to be an advantage? I've heard that applying early gives med schools less of a pool of applicants to compare you to, which increases your chances. Applying before the end of July is considered applying on time, but around how many weeks into the application cycle is the "green" period? I'm planning on sending everything by June 14th. My scores have been in and my letters of rec has been received by my pre-med advisor. Would that still be considered "early"?

Yes. Someone correct me if I'm wrong but I would think submitting for verification anytime before mid July would be early. Of course, your application really isn't looked at until after you send in secondaries. So even if you submit June 1st, if you sit on secondaries for a month you'll be later than people who sent primaries in July and turned secondaries around in 2 days.

Relax. You are early by any reasonable person's definition. I could not get my committee letter until the end of September, because the committee would not interview me before mid-September. So I was not complete until around the first of October. It worked out. I will get my MD degree next May, class of 2011. But yes, you are early, do not be afraid.

Thanks for your replies. Also, I plan on going out of country on vacation for two weeks or so starting July 23rd to August 7th or so. Would that be bad for my secondaries? If I send out my primaries by June 14th to about 15 schools, will I get the secondaries for most schools before the 23rd of July? I can work on them during my plane ride as well as a bunch of times over my "vacation."
