Questuion, question!!!????

1- If somebody got an invitation for early interviews and they didn't accept her/him, are they gonna put him/her in the regular process???
2- In this case would they interview him/her one more time?

Pls let me know, if you have any idea!
Thank you

pharmss,

My name is Jeremy and I'm a P-1 at South University in Savannah, GA, which is a brand new school. We have an early acceptance program at our school and on the website it does say that if you're not chosen for early acceptance, your application will be placed in the general admissions cycle. I do believe you have to interview again if you're put into the general admissions cycle. If you want more info. on South, I'll be more than happy to help. I hope this helps! Take care.

Jeremy ,
Thank you for your response.
Actually, I got an interview at south university (Savannah) on Dec. 12th. How do you like the school? Do you have any advice for me before the interview? Do you have any idea what was the least PCAT score they accepted last year?

Hey!

Congratulations on the interview! That's great! I think you will really like it here at South. As for the interview, you will interview with two faculty members and there is also a tour of the campus at some point. It will take around 4 hrs. for the whole interview b/c they also serve you lunch. The interviews are 30 mins. each, depending on who interviews you. The school is very small, I mean very small! We share a classroom with the PA students here at South until our building is complete which should be done in February. Here are some typical questions they will probably ask:

Why South?
Why Pharmacy?
How do you deal with stress?
Do you feel you can handle the coursework here at South?
If I can think of others, I'll let you know, but those are the ones that stuck out in my mind from my interview.

As far as PCAT, I'm really not sure. I was in the 35th percentile overall (for PCAT) and my overall GPA was a 3.0. I hope this helps and let me know if there's anything else I can help you with about South! Take care.

Congrats as well Pharmss...

Also you should know, the earlier you have an interview, the higher you are on South's list. They just recently started interviewing so they must want you! 🙂 Jeremy covered pretty much all the basics on the interview. We already have over 80 applicants for 68 seats for next year so I guess word is out on us! As far as PCAT and grades are considered, South is pretty good looking at the entire student. They are not concerned if you got a perfect score on your PCAT and a mediocore GPA or vice versa so you should feel good about that. Goodluck on your interview!

Thank you guys for the tips. I am sure it will help me on my interview.
One more thing I wanted to ask you guys is about the school. some people told me that be careful about the south because the program is not been accredit yet. Should I worry about that???
Thanks again🙂

It's a very valid question. We, as well as LECOM, Wingate, Las Vegas, Mona loa (CA sp?) and any other new school are going thru the same process we are. The way the it works is a 3 step process. Currently, we are on step 2. In january, we will more than likely be granted candidate status. With this status, anyone who graduates from South will be able to take the boards. The laungage is scarry and the thought of spending 100K on a degree that you can wipe your @ss with is a little daunting. It's a tough decision that you have to make but you have to take some factors into consideration...

In the history of ACPE (Accrediting body), not one school has been denied full status.

Our Dean is the former dean of Medical University of South Carolina

Our Assistant Dean was Assist. Dean at MUSC like the dean

The majority of our faculty taught at the University of Florida, Univerisity of Georgia, Virginia Commonwelth, and MUSC.

I seriously doubt our program will have any problems gaining full accredidation. Hope this helps!

Why did everyone leave MUSC? It's usually ranked pretty highly and I considered going there. Any particular reason?
😕

Perhaps it has something to do with the possible upcoming merger of the MUSC pharm school with the University of South Carolina pharm school? Or related budget problems?

"INevrLearn" (MUSC class of 2005) used to lurk this forum...wonder if he's still around.

LVPharm has a good point, but from what I understand, our dean came here "with a dream to open a new school" So there you have it!! Other than that....I have no idea but im happy! They are the best!
